Alphabet Al a Mode & Hobby Haven Recipe Binder

Greetings!

I recently went through all my recipe books and loose recipes to weed out all the ones I don't need, and to find an easy system for keeping the ones I use.  I prefer to have a printed copy of a recipe as more often than not I inadvertently splatter onto it, and I don't want that on my screens.

This is my time of year to go through my craft room/office and purge, and I had emptied a couple of 3-ring binders.  As many of my recipes are ones I've found online and printed off, the binder was the perfect solution to organize my recipes.  I inserted them into sheet protectors and sorted them by categories. I was happy with it and was going to simply write on the spine with a Sharpie, but...

I looked at the binder and realized it is the type with an outer sleeve so I could slide a sheet inside to identify what it's contents are. I decided it was time to add a personal touch, and knew just the thing to give it some flair.

The Hobby Haven Designer Series Paper (DSP)!  This DSP has prints depicting various hobbies, one of which is cooking & baking, so I pulled out the papers and got to work.

Isn't that the perfect paper to go on the front of a binder filled with recipes!

And, for even more perfection, the tall, thin letters from the Alphabet Al a Mode dies are thin enough to arrange along the spine as well.

This Hobby Haven DSP has prints that can be used for so many different things, so give it a another look and see how you may use it.  I'd love to hear what you did with it in the comments 😀

Beverly's Tip of the Day

Look at your paper crafting supplies and think of ways you can use them for something other than what you usually use them for.

I have a sister stamper that makes Kleenex box covers to slip over the boxes that match the decor in the room their in.  They're adorable.  She adds die cuts to solid cardstock, sometimes ribbon or whatever seems right at the time.  It's an extremely affordable way to add your personal touch to simple items.

I have taken a sheet of cardstock to the paint counter to have them match it for the paint I used on an accent wall in my previous craft room.

Remember, you are only limited by your imagination.

Here's How It's Made:

Make sure cardstock easily slides in and out of sleeve before decorating.

Arrange letters on cardstock first to figure out spacing before removing backing to adhere.
For the title section piece, I used repositionable adhesive to secure my Basic White piece so I could arrange the letters.  I used a small cardstock strip with repositionable adhesive to have a line for my letters to sit on so each line is straight.

Remember to look through the pre-cut punch out pieces that are included in this pack of paper.  The apron and hand mixer were fun additions to add on to the title section piece.

Have fun with it!
