Paradise Garden Faux Torn Edge Lovely Day Blossom Card

Greetings! 

Today's card features the Paradise Garden bundle, which brings botanically inspired elegance to your projects.  The lovely leaves and a single blossom make this card feel like you're getting just a glimpse of what would be revealed if you could see behind the torn edges.  The soft tones of the greens and pinks give this card a beautiful springtime vibe just like all the gorgeous fruit trees showing off their springtime splendor.

Techniques include a faux torn edge and a little rockin' & rollin' on the blossom.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

To get the look of a torn edge like this is quite simple.  A piece of copy paper, a blending brush, and an ink pad or two are the only tools you need.  Begin with a white or light neutral cardstock, tear the copy paper in half, tape the paper over the ends of the cardstock, and the middle is your canvas.  Begin with inking the blending brush, lightly brushing color along the torn edges onto your cardstock, and continuing to add color until you have the look you want.  Remove the copy paper, and your torn edges are revealed!

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Paradise Garden bundle (Save 10% when you purchase stamp set & die with bundle item#)
  • Soft Sea Foam cardstock 
    • card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2    OR    5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 5-1/4 x 4 panel
    • hexagon die cut
    • scrap for flower
  • Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Bubble Bath Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends
  • Moody Palette Glossy Dots
  • Bubble Bath 1/8" Faux Linen ribbon
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Copy/Printer Paper - 5-3/4 x 4-1/2

Here's How It's Made:

Place Basic White cardstock panel onto your work surface.  Tear copy paper in half lengthwise, place one piece over upper part of cardstock panel and other piece over lower part of cardstock panel, leaving about a 2" reveal in the middle.  Secure with tape, making sure copy paper and cardstock will remain in place.

Rub Blending Brush onto Soft Sea Foam ink pad to ink up, lightly rub along torn edges and into center of cardstock, re-inking if needed.  Ink all leafy stamps with Garden Green, stamp randomly into open area so portions are stamped on torn paper.  Ink texture stamp with Soft Sea Foam, stamp a few times between and around leaves, re-inking each time.


Remove copy paper pieces.  Adhere Basic White cardstock panel to folded card front.


Ink message with Garden Green, stamp off, stamp onto hexagon.  Ink small flower with Bubble Bath, then roll just the edges of the stamp onto Fresh Freesia, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, die cut.


Adhere hexagon in lower left area with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Adhere blossom onto large branch with Stampin' Dimensionals.


Embellish with green dots, and color a white one with Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blend for center of flower.  Tie ribbon into small bow, adhere at left side of hexagon.
