Friends Are Like Seashells

 Greetings!

This past weekend I was showing one of my team members how easy it is to use the Blending Brushes and came up with this beautiful card in the process.

Simply Stunning!

Pearls and Gems add a magical feel

The Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set is a stunning combination of gorgeous lifelike seashells and messages in a beautiful font!  There are so many ways to make amazing creations with this ensemble, however, for this card simplicity won out.  A little shading using the blending brushes creates a beautiful background for the sand dollar and sea grasses. Embellishing with a few pearls and gems add a magical feel and the addition of an angled piece of cardstock peaking out along the lower right and bottom edge takes the "frame" from ordinary to extraordinary.

Upon first glance the blending brush looks like a sponge, however, it's actually a brush with 1000's of super soft bristles. It's a new favorite tool for sure and so easy to use! Simply rub the brush on a stamp pad to collect a little ink and transfer ink to the cardstock by using a circular motion until you have the intensity of color you are looking for.  The brushes come in a three pack and rinse out under running water for use again and again.

  • Play with your cardstock layers framing your centerpiece.  The angle adds a bit of the unexpected.
  • Mixing embellishments is a great way to bring more interest to your card and makes each embellishment stock last longer :)😊
  • The Take Your Pick Tool is the perfect tool for picking up and placing small embellishments such as the pearls and gems.  It's much easier to accurately attach them when you can see them without your fingers getting in the way.

Forever Fern Hello

 Greetings!

One of the many benefits of Stampin' Up! products is the wonderful styles of stamps.  Today's card features a DISTINKTIVE ™ Stamp, which is designed so it creates different opacities in a single stamped image.

This sweet Hello card using the Forever Fern stamp set is simple and yet suggests a variety of texture.

Simple and Fresh

How beautiful are those botanical elements!  It's easy to feel artistically talented when stamps like this provide all the shading.  My inspiration for the colors came from the beautiful lilacs blooming in my yard right now.

The black and white prints from the True Love Designer Series Papers really help the purples and greens to pop!  The striped twine from the Playful Pets trim combo pack continues the black and white accent, and a little Ladybug trinket sitting on a leaf is the perfect finishing touch.

Decorating the inside of the card takes just a moment and this stamp set has a sweet sentiment to brighten anybody's day.

An inside as pretty as the outside!

I recommend adding a layer of white or vanilla on a colored card base so your message is easy to read.   An image up in the corner carries through what's on the card front and adding a strip of the Designer Series Paper onto the coordinating cardstock all help to frame the sentiment while still leaving room for a handwritten note.

Materials and measurements:

  • Stamps:
    • Forever Fern stamp set
  • Paper
    • Highland Heather card base - 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2
    • True Love Designer Series Paper - 4 x 5-1/4, 1/2 x 3-3/4 for inside strip
    • Granny Apple Green - 4-1/2 x 3, 4 x 1 for inside strip
    • Basic White -2-3/4 x 2-3/4, 4 x 5-1/4 for inside
  • Ink:
    • Gorgeous Grape
    • Granny Apple Green
    • Crushed Curry
  • Embellishments:
    • Playful Pets trim combo pack - 24"
    • Ladybug Trinkets
Tools and Supplies:
  • Tools:
    • Paper Trimmer
    • Paper Snips
  • Adhesives and more:
    • Stampin' Seal, mini glue dots
    • Stampin' Dimensionals
    • Grid Paper
Assembly Tips & Techniques:
  • Notice the two botanical images are stamped off the edge.  Your grid paper is your best friend for being the layer under the project you are stamping.  This protects your worksurface from being inked up.
  • Wrap the trim around the bottom part of the Granny Apple Green layer3 times, bring ends together and tie, snip off excess. Pop this layer up off the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Stamp inside white piece with plant and sentiment before adhering to card base.
  • Attach ladybug trinket with a mini glue dot.
  • Paper Snips have a very sharp blade making them the perfect tool for cutting ribbon as well as cardstock and paper.

Simply Succulents In-Color Baby Wipe Double Step fun-fold

 Greetings!

Today's card features a technique that gives every card a unique coloring, called the baby wipe technique.   As you can see this technique works equally well for images and messages.

Today's project features the Simply Succulents bundle.  Notice the gorgeous label die that is part of this bundle!  The rectangle die with the beautifully detailed stitched edge is from the Nature's Thoughts dies.

Soft, Colorful and Beautiful!

The 5 new 2021-2023 In-Colors are beautiful, and work so well together!  The base of this card is Pale Papaya, the ribbon is Polished Pink, the flower pot is Fresh Freesia, the shimmery vellum directly behind the potted plant is Evening Evergreen, and the cardstock frame is Soft Succulent.  I actually stamped the succulent arrangement and the sentiment in other colors, but when I was pulling out cardstock to create the card, I realized the 5 in-colors would be the perfect combination to use.  It's so awesome when things work out that way!  This also shows how beautifully all the Stampin' Up! colors work together!

Here's how stamping with baby wipes work.  I layered two baby wipes and then saturated them with drops of Stampin' Ink Refills.  Here's the photo of what it looked like and the colors I used.

Notice the ink colors used appear much brighter on the baby wipe compared to the more subtle colors they are on the actual card.

I inked and stamped using this baby wipe for a total of 14 images and sentiments, so one inked baby wipe goes a long way!

Assembly Tips & Techniques:
  • When inking baby-wipes, press the stamp onto the baby wipe so you can see how large of an area you need to fill with ink to ensure all edges are inked.  Make sure all areas are covered so there are not white spaces.
  • Score card base as noted above and fold so the tall peak is at the back.  Your two peaks should measure 2-3/4 and 2" high.
  • To adhere vellum to cardstock without adhesive showing through, I cut the tear and tape adhesive strip in half.  This produced a thin strip that easily fits under the decorative stitching around the border.
  • When attaching the framed piece, make sure that the top edge sits no higher than 5-1/2 so that it fits inside your envelope.  An easy way to measure is to place the bottom edge of your card base at the zero line on your grid paper and place the top of your feature framed piece on the 5-1/2 grid line, center side to side, then press onto folded peak of your card base.
  • To wrap ribbon with no exposed edge, apply adhesive on cardstock under the area that the label will cover.  Press one end of ribbon onto adhesive, wrap around back, and press other end onto adhesive on front with a slight overlap.  Press firmly.  Snip off excess ribbon.
  • Adhere label over ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals.
