Mixed Up Patterns Diagonal Strips Sweet Blooms Card

Greetings!

Today's card features the Sweet Blooms stamp set and prints from the Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Take your card from meh to wow! simply by slanting the words and the strips of paper.  I didn't even add any embellishments!  Just stamps, ink and paper were used for this card and the visual texture is provided with the array of prints and patterns.

I love mixing patterns and colors so this is an easy way to show off multiple prints from a pack of DSP on one card.  I chose the colors as a nod to the message on the card.

==============================================================================

Beverly's Tip of the Day

When deciding where and how to position the strips for this card, I began by cutting a length of each of the three prints I had chosen.  I cut a 12" long 3/4" strip of the blue/white floral, a 12" x 5/8" strip of the blue/white pattern, and a 12" long by 1/2" strip of the green/white stripe.  Then I cut each into two 5" lengths, with a 2" length remaining.

With these lengths, I could lay them out, decide which ones to cut down by an 1/8 or 1/4" so the strip widths were varied, and position them on the card. By cutting the lengths of DSP to the widest width I would be using for that color, I wasn't creating a lot of waste.  Before I adhered any strips down, I stamped the message onto the cardstock to make sure I had a nice solid stamped image.  I then adhered the strips.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Sweet Blooms stamp set
  • Balmy Blue cardstock
    • card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 5-1/4 x 4 panel
  • Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • print 1(floral) - 12 x 3/4, 12 x 3/8
    • print 2 (white/blue pattern) 12 x 5/8
    • print 3 (white/green stripe) 12 x 1/2
  • Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Paper Trimmer
=============================================================
Here's How It's Made:

Ink "bloom" and "where you're planted" with Balmy Blue, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, at slight angle, making sure the two rows of text are at the same angle with an inch in between.

Position strips of DSP, parallel to angle of stamping, with strips overhanging panel on both sides.  I have included the measurements of each strip and the 2" strips worked perfectly on the top and bottom corners.

Trim off overhang of all strips.

Adhere finished panel to Balmy Blue folded card front.
