for a friend with Lots of Heart

Hello and a happy day to you!

Don't you just love opening up a box of goodies and letting your mind start thinking of all the beautiful ways you can enjoy the new products you've just received from Stampin' Up!?  I'm right there with you!!  It's like receiving a gift every time a box arrives!

The first time I paged through the Jan-June 2021 mini catalog I knew I had to have the Lots of Heart Bundle (stamp set and dies).  It's Valentiny (is that really a word?) and Springy and has adorable heart stamps with polka dots and buffalo plaids! How fun is that!!  This set is awesome because besides having dies to cut out hearts and flowers, there are dies to cut out x's and o's, and a little bird and a butterfly, and.... So many fun things to love about this bundle! To have dies provided to cut out all the flowers that fit perfectly over the floral heart die makes it so easy to add color and additional dimension without have to "color in" the flowers! Genius!

Sweet and colorful.

The Granny Apple Green for the "floral heart" works great as the base and is a strong enough color to handle the boldness of Poppy Parade and Rich Razzleberry.  By putting it on the white scallop edged heart surrounded by a background of Soft Sea Foam it really pops.  The little bird chirping "hey, friend" provides the perfect greeting.  Fun pops of sparkle with red rhinestones to add the final touch and it is ready to send to a friend.

Materials and dimensions:

  • Stamps:
    • Lots of Heart Bundle* - (Lots of Heart stamp set and Many Hearts dies)
    • Itty Bitty Greetings
  • Paper
    • Whisper White - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 card base, scored at 4-1/4, 4 x 4 piece for diecut heart
    • Granny Apple Green - 5-1/4 x 4, 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece for die cuts
    • Soft Sea Foam - 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
    • Rich Razzleberry, Poppy Parade and Real Red - scrap pieces for flowers and bird
  • Ink:
    • Poppy Parade
  • Embellishments:
    • Red Rhinestones basic jewels
  • Tools & Accessories:
    • Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine

  • Other:
    •  multi-purpose liquid glue, dimensionals, Stampin' Seal ®
*A bundle is a stamp set & die or stamp set & punch
sold together as one item #
The GREAT thing about a bundle is that the items are sold together at a
10% discount!

Quick Tips:
  • The multi-purpose glue is a great adhesive for adhering small items.  I simply put tiny little drops of glue around the edge of the flowers and a little larger dot in the thicker section of the flower.  This glue stays tacky when dry so you want to try to keep it from oozing out on any edges.
  • The bird is two colors of red.  The body is Real Red and the wing is Poppy Parade.  Because the die cuts out both pieces at once you now have another bird with the opposite color pieces to make another card.  The same is true with the flower dies - you get all the flower pieces in one die.  This is the perfect reason to make two cards very similar so you can use up all your die cut pieces.

A Happy Heart

February is almost here and Valentine's Day is coming up quickly!  Sending a card to someone to let them know they are special is a wonderful way to send a hug in these times of social distancing.

A card that's quick and easy is key when time is short.

Make this card in just minutes!

Don't you just LOVE the different shades of purple against the black and white! The sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather, the scalloped heart is in Purple Posy and the cardstock strip and ribbon are in Gorgeous Grape.  Notice how the h's in heart and happy curve to follow the shape of the heart punch as do the r and t at the end of the words.  How clever!  This Heart Punch Pack is a two-punch set which makes it so easy to create a beautiful focal point.  Simply stamp a quick sentiment, punch it out with the heart punch, select a complimentary card stock for the scallop edged heart punch and voila'!  Pop it on to your card base, add a pop or two of color and you have a beautiful card!

Who can you think of that would love to open their mail and find a beautiful handmade card from you?

This Punch Party stamp set is a special host set available only during SALE-a-bration and FREE when you host a workshop that totals or you purchase $300 in product.  Contact me to find out more.

Materials and dimensions:

  • Stamps:
    • Punch Party Host Set - Free with $300 purchase during SALE-a-bration
  • Paper
    • Whisper White Thick  - 4-1/4 x 9-1/4, scored at 5-1/2 (the basic black layer "extends" the card front) scrap 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 for punched heart
    • Basic Black 3-3/4 x 4-3/4
    • Purple Posy 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 for scallop punched heart
    • Gorgeous Grape 3/4 x 2-3/4
    • True Love Designer Series Paper -3-1/2 x 4-1/2
  • Ink:
    • Highland Heather
  • Embellishments:
    • Gorgeous Grape 3/8" sheer ribbon - 16"
  • Tools & Accessories:
    • Heart Punch Pack
    • Paper Trimmer
  • Other:
    •  dimensionals, Stampin' Seal ®

Quick Tips:
  • Card bases don't have to be the full length of the card.  I used a pre-cut and folded card base that was 1-3/4" shorter on the front.  I never want to throw away anything that can be used 😊.  I played with different sizes for the black and how it was placed on the white base until I came up with this finished layout.

a smile with the Lovely You stamp set

The new True Love Designer Series Paper in the Jan-June mini catalog is gorgeous so I knew I wanted to use it for my card.  Any color is a great choice with black and white and I opted for Granny Apple Green cardstock and ink.  Then I had to decide which stamp set - hmmm - never an easy choice!  I chose the Lovely You stamp set  from the 2020-2021 Annual catalog.  This stamp set is so versatile with it's wonderful variety of sentiments in a beautiful font and paired with a great selection of simple solid images.  The cards you can make with this set are truly limitless!

Ta dah!!  Simple and gorgeous!

Isn't it fun!

I created this card for a mystery card challenge I participated in.

What's a mystery card challenge you ask.  In a mystery card challenge we are given the dimensions of the layers we are to use, told to pick our color palette which is typically to coordinate with the DSP we choose, a recommendation for stamp size(s) and any dies or punches we will be using. Then we are given the step by step instructions during the live meeting and we all reveal our cards at the end of the instruction period.  Hence the mystery as we do not see the card sample that was used for our dimensions and instructions until we are all finished.

This challenge called for six 1" square pieces of DSP to be layered on a 2-1/4" x 3-3/8" piece of cardstock as the focal point of the card. Additional instructions were to stamp an image at opposite corners on the 4 x 5-1/4" piece which is the same color as the card base.  Layering white on white is a beautiful way to really emphasize the focal point.

Materials and dimensions:

  • Stamps:
    • Lovely You
  • Paper
    • Whisper White - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 card base and  5-1/4x4 layer
    • Granny Apple Green - 2-1/4 x 3-3/8
    • True Love Designer Series Paper - six 1" squares
  • Ink:
    • Granny Apple Green
  • Embellishments:
    • Playful Pets trim combo pack - 18"
    • Metallic Pearls
  • Tools & Accessories:
    • Paper trimmer & Take your Pick tool
  • Other:
    •  dimensionals, Stampin' Seal ®
Quick Tips:
  • Layout the DSP squares and decide which side of the papers and which patterns work well together.  Also think of how they will look with the stamp set you are using.
  • To have the spacing of your squares consistent, dry place them first, meaning before attaching adhesive, so you can visually even them out.  I recommend adhering the two middle ones first, and then spacing the four around them.

Thinking of you with A Touch of Ink

 Hello, hello!

I am always so excited for all the free products that are available to earn during SALE-a-bration and this year has me enjoying them more than ever before!  The first items I earned were the A Touch of Ink stamp set (free with a purchase of $100 in product) and the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) which is free is a purchase of $50 in product.  Pairing these two has given me limitless possibilities for creativity.

This card showcases the butterfly with the thinking of you sentiment on an easel card.

Creating an easel card is a fun way to WOW someone and it's easy to make!

Materials and dimensions:

  • Stamps:
    • A Touch of Ink - SALE-a-bration - free with $100 purchase
  • Paper
    • Mossy Meadow - card base (5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4 and 2-1/8), large circle
    • Pear Pizzazz - 4 x 5-1/4 embossed,  5/8 x 2-1/4
    • Rococo Rose - circles
    • Whisper White - 5-1/4x4 and circles
    • Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper - SALE-a-bration - free with $50 purchase - strips are 1x4, 2x4, 2-1/2 x 4 for card front, 1/2x5 for strip on bottom
  • Ink:
    • Mossy Meadow
    • Rococo Rose
  • Embellishments:
    • Old Olive ribbon - 18" (from the Ornate Garden ribbon combo pack)
  • Tools & Accessories:
    • Layering Circles dies
  • Other:
    •  dimensionals, mini glue dots, Stampin' Seal ®
Quick Tips:
  • To create the easel card, fold your card base at the 4-1/4 score, and then fold the front back on itself at the 2-1/8 score.  Assemble your card front onto the base, and then stand it up so you can decide how far in you want to place your raised tag at the bottom to give your card front the correct angle for display.
  • The rococo rose layer of the butterfly is stamped off on scratch paper first and then stamped onto the circle to give it a softer color
  • The "thinking of you" circle is raised with dimensionals so the front of the card will stay in place easily.  The butterfly circle is also popped up with dimensionals.
  • When attaching the front of the card to the folded card base, adhere once strip of adhesive at the top back of the card base, and the other strip of adhesive at the bottom edge just above the fold line to ensure none of the adhesive is exposed.
  • Secure the bow in place with a mini glue dot.

Best Wishes with A Touch of Ink

Welcome to my first Blog Hop!

The A Touch of Ink stamp set has very quickly become a favorite of mine! Pairing it with the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper gives me a wonderful color selection to work with, and here is just one of the many cards I have made using these two items together:

The random sizes and colors of the circles make for a great background.  To keep it soft I layered Vellum over it and did my stamping and layering on the Vellum.  It's a quick and easy card and I'm excited to share more samples using this product pairing on January 16th!

Materials and dimensions:

  • Stamps:
    • A Touch of Ink - SALE-a-bration - free with $100 purchase
  • Paper
    • Seaside Spray - card base (4-1/4 x 11)
    • Whisper White - 4 x 5-1/4 embossed,  5/8 x 2-1/4
    • Vellum - 3-3/4 x 4-3/4
    • Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper - 3-3/4 x 5, *fussy cut flowers and leaves
  • Ink:
    • Old Olive
    • Rococo Rose
  • Embellishments:
    • Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon - 16"
  • Tools & Accessories:
    • Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder
  • Other:
    • Paper snips, dimensionals, mini glue dots, Stampin' Seal ®
I wanted to make a card that had a softer feel to it and layering the vellum over the background paper was my way to accomplish the effect.  Pairing it with the Seaside Spray for the card base helped keep it soft and subtle.

The leaves stamp is a  large enough stamp to hold it's own as an image and works well to stamp it twice in opposite directions as I have done to create a background for adding the flowers as the focal point.

*What does fussy cut mean?  It means cutting something out the old fashioned way - using scissors to carefully cut around the image you want. 😉

Quick tips:
  • When stamping on vellum, give the ink time to dry before handling, or use your Heat Embossing Tool to quickly dry the ink before assembling.
  • "Hide" the adhesive on the vellum layer by applying it to an area that will have something on top of it so it doesn't show through.
  • I stamped off for the greeting, meaning I inked the stamp, stamped it on a scratch paper first, before stamping on to the label to give the Rococo Rose ink a more subtle color.
Thanks for visiting!  I'll see you again soon!
