Phrases & Frames Valley In Bloom Fabulous Day Card

 Greetings!

Today's card features the lovely textured frames floating on a print from the Valley In Bloom Designer Series Papers (DSP).  This print is so real you almost feel like you are walking into a garden.  I swear I could smell the Lily of the Valley scent while I was creating the card!

Techniques include die cutting and adding extra texture with the new Impressions Plate these Phrases & Frames dies are designed to use.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

The Phrases & Frames dies are introduced as impressions dies, meaning they are die cut first, then run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine a second time with the Impressions Plate to add an extra dimension, almost a quilted texture, to the piece. (The Opulent Oasis bundle also includes dies designed for the Impressions Plate)

Step 1 is to die cut the frame just as you do with any die.  Step 2 is to set the two #3 cutting plates aside, place the die with the cardstock in it onto the base plate with the #2 plate, with cutting side facing up.  To help keep the cardstock in place inside the die, I put a couple of repositionable tape pieces on it.  Place the Impressions Plate and the dark gray plate #4 on top.  I recommend placing the die near the front as the Impressions Plate stretches as it goes through the die cut machine, which can result in the cardstock moving inside the die.  Another recommendation is to spritz the cardstock with water which allows it to expand and stretch without tearing.
