Valley In Bloom Diagonal Flip Panel Friend Card

Greetings!

Today's card features a simple diagonal flip panel for the background.  This is achieved by selecting a sheet from a pack of Designer Series Paper that has a complimentary print on each side, cutting it diagonally, and flipping two of the pieces to the reverse side.  This technique is a simple way to create a unique background.  For this card, I chose a sheet from the Valley In Bloom Designer Series Paper (DSP) and a sentiment from the Framed & Fabulous stamp set.  The flower is compliments of the Radiant Sunflowers die set.

Techniques include die cutting and diagonal flip panel.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

When cutting a diagonal it is advisable to cut from the middle to the corners.  By beginning the cut in between the ends, you prevent the possible damage at the tip of the paper or cardstock.  Cut to one end, then back to the other end, making sure to hold the blade guide down firmly while cutting.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Framed & Fabulous stamp set
  • Radiant Sunflower dies
  • Darling Duckling cardstock
    • card base  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
    • scrap for flower center die cut
  • Lemon Lolly cardstock
    • scrap for flower die cut
  • Garden Green cardstock
    • scrap for flower stem die cut
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 for label die cut
  • Valley In Bloom Designer Series Paper (DSP)

=============================================================
Here's How It's Made:

Place DSP panel diagonally on Paper Trimmer so opposite corners are on the cutting line, begin with cutting blade in middle, cut to one corner, then back to the other corner. Hold pieces together at cut line, line up with opposite corners on cutting line of trimmer, press firmly on blade guide, begin with cutting blade somewhere in middle of piece, cut to one end, then back to the other end. (This prevents damaged tips when cutting diagonally)

Adhere side panels to folded card front, flip top and bottom panels to reverse side of DSP, adhere in open spaces.

Using Radiant Sunflower dies, die cut 3-leaf stem from Garden Green cardstock, 1 small sunflower from Lemon Lolly cardstock, small flower center from Darling Duckling cardstock, and label from Basic White.  Ink message with Garden Green, stamp onto label die cut, lining up near right side.

Adhere label at center of card front, adhere stem to left of message on label, adhere assembled flower with Stampin' Dimensional at top of stem.

Embellish with small and medium dots.
