Sunflower Fields Diagonal-Z Fun Fold Card

Greetings!

Today's card features beautiful fall color prints from the Sunflower Fields Designer Series Papers (DSP) in a Diagonal-Z fun fold.  These papers, with their happy sunflower prints and neutral toned patterns are so filled with possibilities, I find myself reaching for them again and again!  This fun fold is a great way to showcase a variety of prints in a fold that stands up nicely and allows peeks of each panel.

Techniques include a Diagonal-Z fun fold, die cutting and dry embossing.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

If you haven't purchased or used the two-tone cardstock, I encourage you to give a try.  It has a light and dark shade of the same color, doubling your color choice, but wait, there's more.  It's ultra smooth surface makes it ideal for stamping, giving you crisp, clean edges.  Because it's smooth and a little thinner than the standard cardstock, it layers beautifully with less bulk.  It also embosses wonderfully, and because the center of the cardstock is white, the white peeks through on some areas of the embossing, giving it a distressed look.  This can be enhanced by using a sanding block and carefully sanding the raised design to accentuate the detail.

Here's How It's Made:

For diagonal cut on card base, measure up 3" from left bottom corner, mark at 3".  Insert into Paper Trimmer and cut from mark diagonally to upper right corner.

Score at 4 and 8 inches, fold mountain and valley, so base stands like this:

To match diagonals at top of each panel, here are the measurements for each piece:
NOTE: All four pieces are 3-7/8 wide.  The measurements below are for the shorter side and are placed in paper trimmer to cut diagonally up to top of opposite side.  Make sure to place the DSP panel in the paper trimmer in the proper direction as shown here.

Front: 2-7/8 at left edge
Outer center: 3-3/4 at right edge
Inside center: 3-3/4 at left edge
Inside back: 4-1/2 at left edge

Adhere front panel to card base front, and outer center to card base so it shows behind front, like this:

Adhere inside center panel to card base, adhere *embossed panel to inside back of card base, like this:

(optional)*To accentuate embossed image detail, use sanding block to reveal more of the white inner layer.

Ink message with Old Olive, stamp onto rounded rectangle die cut.  Adhere to die cut elongated hexagon, centering.

Adhere label to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Unravel jute twine and pull one of the three threads, tie into bow, adhere at lower right of label.  Embellish with green Moody Palette Glossy Dots.

Adhere large rounded rectangle die cut to embossed back inside panel, making sure to adhere low enough so it doesn't show when card is closed.
