Paradise Garden Mixed Up Patterns Woven Strips Card

Greetings! 

Today's card features the Paradise Garden stamp and die bundle and Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Papers (DSP).



Techniques include weaving paper strips and coloring embellishments with Stampin' Blends.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

Did you know Stampin' Dimensionals are a little bit thicker than Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  You will notice in the instructions below for adhering the flowers and leaves that I specify the full sized Stampin' Dimensionals for the flowers and the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals for the leaves.  Not only do the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals fit under the individual leaves but they also sit about a cardstock thickness lower, so they tuck under the flower edges nicely.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Paradise Garden bundle (Save 10% when you purchase stamp set & die with bundle item#)
  • Daffodil Delight cardstock 
    • card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2    OR    5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 5-1/4 x 4 panel
    • 2-15/16 x 1
    • scraps for flower and leaf die cuts
  • Balmy Blue cardstock
    • 3 1-1/16
  • Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • 4 x 5/8 yellow/white stripe & white flowers on blue
    • 5-1/2 x 5/8 white on yellow floral & white pattern on blue
  • Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends 
  • Moody Palette Glossy Dots
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Mini Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere Basic White cardstock panel to folded card front.  

Weaving pieces of DSP requires a little forethought when applying the adhesive.  There is no one piece that you lay flat against the card, as each one has to be free of adhesive where another piece will slide under it.  To make placement of the strips stationary, apply adhesive on the first two-thirds to secure the strip in place.  After they are in place, then do the weaving of the strips, and carefully lift up the ends and apply adhesive to the cardstock the strips are on and press down to hold in place.  Finally, apply adhesive to the ends of the strips on top to secure them down.


Ink small flower stamp with Balmy Blue, stamp off once, stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Repeat once.  Ink large flower stamp with Balmy Blue, stamp off once, stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Ink 3-leaf stem with Lemon Lime Twist, stamp onto Basic White cardstock. Repeat once.  Die cut all pieces.


Ink sentiment with Daffodil Delight, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, adhere to Balmy Blue cardstock.

Adhere sentiment label to upper left of Basic White cardstock panel on card front.  Adhere the three flowers directly below the sentiment label with Stampin' Dimensionals, with the largest flower in the center.  Adhere the two leaf stems at each end of the flowers with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, trimming off stems and tucking them under the edge of the flower.


 Color a small and large white glossy dot with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend, adhere at upper left of sentiment label.  Embellish center of each flower with white glossy dot.
