Nature Walk Great Guy Card

Greetings! 

Today's card features layers of texture from the Natural Hues textured specialty paper, along with the Woodgrain Wonders and Nature Walk Designer Series Papers.  These papers bring such a wonderful, earthy vibe making it a perfect combination for a guy.  Whether it's for a birthday, graduation, retirement, anniversary or some other occasion, this card is sure to be a hit!



Techniques include background stamping and die cutting.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

For easy cleaning of die cuts like the dotted piece on this card, the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip is a tool designed for just this purpose.  Place the die with the die cut piece still inside onto the foam sheet, run the rotating brush back and forth over the die and this will loosen and push out all the negative pieces, so you don't have to try and poke them out one at a time.  

For this card, I specify using the black mini stampin' dimensionals.  These are great when working with darker cardstock and DSP layers.  This way, as with the dotted die cut, if the dimensional is close to an edge, it doesn't catch your eye the way a white dimensional would.  They disappear amidst the darker colors, so even when you tilt the card, the dimensionals aren't really noticeable.  The black Stampin' Dimensionals  are a combo pack with both sizes in one package.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Nature's Symphony bundle (Save 10% when you purchase stamp set & die with bundle item#)
  • Secret Sea cardstock 
    • card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
  • Lost Lagoon cardstock
    • 3-3/4 x 3/4 
  • Basic Beige cardstock
    • 2 x 3/4 (sentiment)
  • Natural Hues Textured Specialty Paper
    • 5-1/4 x 4 - darkest color 
  • Wood Grain Wonders Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • 4-1/4 x 2 Pecan Pie color (branch die cut w/adhesive sheet)
  • Nature Walk Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • 4 x 2 beige grid on blue print
  • Secret Sea Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Earthy Matte Dots
  • Adhesive Sheet
  • Multipurpose liquid glue
  • Black Mini Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Take Your Pick die brush tip
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine

Here's How It's Made:

Ink texture stamp with Crushed Curry, stamp onto Natural Hues textured paper, re-ink and repeat 4 to 5 more times, to create a random background (remember, middle area will be covered over).


Adhere stamped panel to folded card front, using Multipurpose liquid glue  (I found using the Stampin' Seal tore off a layer of paper at times when applying the adhesive).  Adhere beige grid on blue DSP to panel, a little above center.


Die cut longest part of large leafy branch from Wood Grain Wonders DSP (die is larger than DSP).  Trim off side branch except for bottom leaf.  Place dotted die onto Lost Lagoon cardstock, die cut.  


Adhere die cut branch onto card front with top leaf near top of panel.  Adhere dotted die cut over branch, adhering with black Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Ink sentiment with Secret Sea, stamp onto Basic Beige cardstock, adhere over lower right portion of dotted piece, with black Mini Stampin' Dimensionals on lower part only.


Embellish with Lost Lagoon and Pecan Pie Earthy Matte Dots.
