Greetings!
Whenever I need a little boost of inspiration for a card, I need look no further than Stampin' Up! catalogs or website. There are so many wonderful ideas, and it's easy to take a template idea, the color combination used, or other elements of a sample and use those as the starting point for a card.
Today's card started with a quick flip through the 2024-2025 annual catalog. One of the samples showcasing the Sweet Peas stamp set caught my eye. I don't have this stamp set so I had to see what felt like a good substitute. I chose to keep the general color palette the sample used, and selected the turtle from the Playing In the Rain stamp set as the focal point.
Isn't he adorable! Standing there with his cute little flower and that adorable expression on his face. I know, it may be a she as well :). One of the reasons I love this template is the use of the rounded corner rectangle dies from the Nested Essentials dies. It really softens the look of the pieces and the piercing around the edges adds a nice touch.
I didn't want to use solid cardstock for the strip and the butterflies, but loved the Peach Pie accent color. Once again, Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Papers (DSP) had the perfect prints! I love these papers! I use them all the time in so many different ways. I don't even have the stamp set or dies that coordinate with them - yet - and I find they work so well with so many other stamp set images. It's wonderful when papers are so versatile and can be used for a wide variety of designs.
The sentiments from the Playing In the Rain set weren't quite the right size to fit in the small rectangle die. I wanted a simple "happy birthday", and the Choose Happy stamp set came to the rescue. This stamp set has a wide variety of words to cover most holidays and occasions, along with simple line art images to help accent your card. It's a great set you'll use again and again.

Here's How It's Made:
Adhere Pool Party panel to Pool Party folded card front with Stampin' Dimensionals, centering.
Ink turtle stamp with Memento Ink, stamp onto Basic White cardstock. Die cut with largest rounded rectangle die. Ink happy birthday with Versamark Ink, stamp onto Shy Shamrock cardstock, sprinkle with white embossing powder, shake off excess, heat set with heat tool. Die cut with smallest rounded rectangle die.
Colors for turtle:
Lemon Lime Twist - shell and tummy
Old Olive - head, arms, legs
Pool Party - squares on shell
Peach Pie - flower
Adhere DSP strip 3/4" up from bottom of panel, with ends extending on both sides. Adhere large rectangle over strip, near left bottom of panel. Adhere sentiment rectangle, overlapping large rectangle at right edge. Die cut butterflies from speckled DSP, adhere one above left of turtle, other at upper right corner of sentiment piece.
Embellish with Matte Decorative Dots.
