Greetings!
Todays card features a technique I have seen many times and have never found the stamp set or words that inspired me to try it...until now. The Amazing Silhouettes bundle could be overlooked. It is comprised of three stamps which have kind of shadowy irregular shape with a silhouette image in the middle. If it's not your style, you might skim right over it. The dies are a collection of words, all of which have a detailed die and an outline die for layering.
Hang in there with me. Sometimes it's the ones we overlook at first that we end up falling in love with.
Have you noticed the gorgeous Abstract Beauty Designer Series Papers? It took me a couple trips through the catalog before I saw the little notation alongside the description that says NEW SIZE! Yep! They are 4 x 6. I LOVE THIS SIZE! No waste and no trying to figure out a design to get two cards out of a 6 x 6 piece of paper. This 4 x 6 size gives us a full panel on the front of our card with a small strip left over to use on the inside. Okay, enough teasing! Here's how I combined everything into a fantastic card.
The background is one of the papers from the
Abstract Beauty Designer Series Papers. The little gold splatters are on the paper making it easy to carry through the gold into the lettering. These papers are a great inspiration for inviting you to let your creativity flow! Since the "outline" of the silhouette image is irregular I didn't want to try and put it into a specific shaped die so I decided to stamp right onto the paper and heat emboss it. The image needed a little something to make it pop and the
Bough Punch has shapes that are just the right size to compliment the silhouette image.
Lastly, here's how I introduced todays blog post; saying I tried a technique I've never done before which is heat embossing the lettering only partially! And how cool does that look! This is one of my favorite cards of all time!

Here's How It's Made:
NOTE: Rub a piece of wax paper over area to be heat embossed. This inhibits static so embossing powder won't cling to cardstock or paper outside of stamped image.
Ink branch stamp with VersaMark™ and stamp onto navy/gold splatter paper. Sprinkle Gold Emboss Powder onto stamped image, shake off excess, heat set with Heat Tool. Adhere to Night of Navy cardstock card front.
Adhere Adhesive Sheet to Very Vanilla cardstock. Follow instructions as listed on photo below:
NOTE: Adhesive sheets make adhering lettering and detailed die cuts so easy! Simply attach to cardstock prior to die cutting.
After words are die cut, press VersaMark™ ink pad onto lower half of each word, sprinkle with some more Gold Emboss Powder and set with heat tool. This adds even more shine and texture to the lettering. Die cut outline lettering in Night of Navy cardstock. Peel backing off vanilla/gold words and adhere to Night of Navy outline die cuts.
Position words onto card and adhere.
Punch out leafy branch in
Night of Navy. Layer vanilla/gold punched bud trio with stems lined up, tie ribbon around both, press a mini glue dot on back of ribbon and adhere to gold embossed image on card front.
Here's what the inside looks like:
