Stamping with the Stars #387 Sketch Hop: Awesome Otters Splashing Birthday

Greetings!

Welcome to our first Sketch Inspiration Hop of 2022!  Here's the sketch...

and here's my interpretation.

For this challenge, I knew I wanted to use the new SALE-a-bration Awesome Otters stamp set.  I tried the standing otter first and I just wasn't feelin' it.  Nothing was working! Once I decided to change the layout from portrait to landscape and chose the little otter splashing in the water, it all came together really quickly.  Who wouldn't love to receive this adorable little otter card for their birthday?

The Splatter 3D embossing folder provided the perfect background texture for this little guy, and if you look closely, you'll see Clear Epoxy Essentials teardrops added on some of the little splash drops.  The faux suede ribbon gives wonderful velvety texture just like it would feel if you could pet this little guy 😀.

Here's How It's Made:
Ink "It's birthday time!" with Pacific Point,  stamp near top edge of Shimmery White cardstock
Ink otter portion by tapping Early Espresso ink pad onto stamp.  Rub off any ink on water areas.  Ink water waves by tapping Pacific Point ink pad onto water parts.  Give a couple quick breaths on stamp to make sure all ink is moist,  stamp onto Shimmery White cardstock near bottom edge, leaving space for birthday hat under greeting.
Put a drop or two of Balmy Blue ink into a container (lids work well) and dip mid sized Water Painter into ink.  Make sure to squeeze so brush tip is nice and wet and move around to dilute ink.  Lightly brush onto water portion of stamped area.  Repeat process with Early Espresso ink and color in otter, avoiding eyes.
Stamp birthday hat with Pacific Point on Shimmery White scrap, color in with Light and Dark Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends.  Fussy cut out.  Adhere at top of otter's head.
Apply teardrop shaped Clear Epoxy drops on top of some of the water drops and a round one on top of  birthday hat.
To emboss Balmy Blue cardstock panel, insert long half of cardstock into Splatters 3D emboss folder, and run through Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, making sure cardstock is clear of sides of machine. Insert un-embossed side into emboss folder, lining up at edge of embossed side, and run through machine again.  Full panel should now be embossed.
Adhere embossed panel to card base.  Adhere Pacific Point cardstock near right edge of panel.  Apply adhesive to Pacific Point piece in center and press Faux Suede ribbon pieces onto adhesive.  Adhere Shimmery White cardstock piece using Stampin' Dimensionals.
