Halloween Ghostly Diorama Card

Greetings!

Today's card features the adorably spooky Oh My Fright stamp & die bundle on a diorama card.  Even though it's a 3D item, it folds flat to the standard card size of 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 for easy mailing.

The background is courtesy of a print from the Garden Poetry Designer Series Papers, and the print along the bands are from the Nature Walk Designer Series Papers, giving this card a twilight feeling.

Techniques include a diorama fun fold and die cutting.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

This project demonstrates the versatility of uses for prints from various packs of Designer Series Papers.  Even though both packs of DSP have a decidedly botanical theme, they work beautifully to create the spooky, twilight coloring needed for this project. With a little imagination, it's quite easy to look at prints in a whole new light and see how you can make them work for an idea that's floating around in your head.

Here's How It's Made:

Ink stars stamp with black, stamp a few times in upper left area of DSP panel.  Ink "Boo to you" with black, stamp at right side of DSP panel.  Adhere to card base between score lines.

The bands that create the front part of this card are the two 7 x 1-1/4 pieces, which are scored at 3/4, 2-1/2, 4-1/2 & 6-1/4.  This gives a 3/4 piece at each end, which I call the tab.  These are the parts that will be adhered to the 3/4" sides of the base.  The 1-1/8" x ---- pieces are to fill in each section between score lines on the two bands.

Adhere the 1-1/8 x --- pieces to the sections of the bands.  Adhere left tabs of bands at top and bottom of left side of card base.  Adhere DSP 4 x 5/8 strip over left side of card base, covering the band edges.  Adhere die cut tree to DSP panel.

Apply adhesive to right side tabs, fold over and adhere to right side of card base at top and bottom.  Apply adhesive to remaining 4 x 5/8" strip, carefully slide into place and press down over tab ends.

This is how it should look from an overhead view.

Die cut two small ghosts (with eye and mouth cut outs).  Use bone folder to press cut edges flat of ghost that will be flipped to reverse side.  Apply liquid glue to top of ghost facing right, adhere to bottom left edge of upper center band.  Apply liquid glue to bottom tail part of second ghost (flipped so facing left), adhere to top right edge of lower center band.

Card should press flat for mailing:

Ink Happy Halloween, stamp on Basic White panel.  Ink stars and stamp a couple times onto panel.  Adhere to back center of card base.

The space in between the front band and back panel is deep enough to easily accommodate a small LED tealight candle and should give off a cute shadow image in low light.
