Paradise Garden 3D Background Lovely Day Card

Greetings!

Today's card features a 3d effect for the background by raising every other strip.  I have used the Garden Poetry Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the background, and the Paradise Garden stamp set and dies for all the elements on the card.  These products are now on the Last Chance List and I am sorry to see them go.  They have been one of my favorite suite collections this year, with their vibrant colors, beautiful botanical patterns, and wonderful stamps, dies and sentiments, not to mention a fabulous hybrid embossing folder as well.  The dies and DSP are all on sale!

Techniques include 3d background, die cutting and stamping on DSP.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

To get even spacing of the strips for this technique I scored the base panel.  This removes the stress of trying to position the strips evenly using a grid paper or pencil marks.  The Simply Scored scoring tool keeps your lines evenly spaced and gives a nice raised line to follow.

Also, when cutting the strips, make sure to keep them in order as you cut, so the finished panel is a cohesive image.

Here's How It's Made:

Score Basic White panel every 1/2" vertically.  Cut DSP panel into 1/2 strips, making sure to keep them in order as they are cut.
Glue every other strip in every other space of scored panel.

Adhere remaining strips in spaces with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Adhere completed panel to wood grain DSP panel, adhere to folded card front.

Ink large leafy branch and 4-leaf cluster with Basic Beige, stamp onto wood grain DSP, die cut.  Ink sentiment with Pecan Pie, stamp onto die cut hexagon.  Die cut banner from Misty Moonlight cardstock.

Adhere banner to card base, using Stampin' Dimensionals on glued strips (not raised strips).  Apply adhesive to back of hexagon, adhere stems of leafy branches, adhere to banner.

Tie Baker's twine into bow, tuck under upper left edge of hexagon.  Embellish with blue Dewdrops embellishments.

This is not a color combination I would have thought to do.  My inspiration came from the color combination chart Stampin' Up! provides, and I chose the middle combination.  I love how it turned out!
