Textured Floral Thoughtful Journey Birthday Blooms Wishes Card

Greetings!

The Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Papers (DSP) are so beautiful, and I love finding new ways to make cards with them.  The print on one side of the paper is more detailed than the other side, which is typically a type of watercolor wash suggesting a scene.  For today's card, I opted to use the watercolor wash side and paired it with a stamped image, a die cut and sentiment from the Textured Floral bundle.  That's the beauty of so many of the prints in various DSP packs from Stampin' Up!  They are designed so they will work with a variety of stamp sets, allowing you a multitude of creative possibilities.

The print I chose for this card reminded me of the southwest, and the image and die continue that feel both in color and design.  To give the sentiment label a little something more, I punched the label in two different colors, and twisted them just slightly.  It adds a nice touch, would you agree?

It's a great benefit when the colors in the prints are light enough so you can stamp directly onto them.  I'll admit, I'm usually a bit nervous, as I don't want to waste the paper if I muck it up, so I always try it out on my grid paper first, to see if I like the look before stamping onto the DSP print.  This particular image is a two step stamp, meaning one stamp is for the stems of the plant, and the other one fills in the flowers.  I stamped the flowers first, and when I lined up the stems in between, it was not quite the position I was originally planning, but that's okay.  The die cut and the sentiment label covered it up enough so you would never know.  That's what makes what we do enjoyable.  We can take something we may think isn't our best work, and find a way to make it turn out right.

There's a saying in our stamping world - there are no mistakes, just a new design, waiting to emerge.  Remember that we aren't trying to be perfect, we are trying to enjoy our crafting experience, whether we are crafting alone or with others.  I hope next time you prepare to make a card, you find joy in the process.
