Greetings!
I recently participated in a challenge where I had to make a color blocked card. I looked at some samples online, but nothing was really speaking to me and I thought, well Beverly, just start cutting some strips and putting them side by side until you find a pattern that's pleasing. That's exactly what I did and I absolutely love, love, love how it turned out. I originally cut all the pieces 1" wide by various lengths, but that was too big, so I cut them all down to a 3/4" width and that worked perfectly. I think you'll agree, the end result is fabulous!
Isn't it gorgeous! The prints are all from the Wildly Flowering Designer Series Papers (DSP). The two linen look woven prints are the perfect compliment to the large floral print and are a beautiful combination to use for this color blocking technique. I've always shied away from color blocking, as it seemed so blocky looking, but I love the way this turned out. When my husband saw it, he said it would make a great wall, or large canvas print on a wall, and I agree. A statement piece for sure!
To allow the color blocking to be the center of attention, I wanted a small sentiment to go on the card and the Unbounded Love stamp set has the perfect options. Quite a few of the sentiments in this set are small block letter phrases so they don't take up much space. Add a little Baker's Twine bow, a couple of Matte Ombre' Decorative Dots and this card is ready for your personalized message.
If you are like me, it's hard to throw those small strips of DSP that are left over from other projects, and this is a great way to use them up. Grab a print, or two or three that coordinate well, and have fun! If you don't have enough prints to coordinate, you can easily use coordinating cardstock colors to complete the look. It's also fun to add a little texture by embossing some of the strips of cardstock. Your imagination is your only limitation.

- card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2 OR 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4

Here's How It's Made:
All strips are 3/4" wide, and the length for each piece is listed on the photo below:
Adhere to Basic White panel, then adhere to Misty Moonlight Panel. Adhere to Basic White Thick folded card front.
Ink sentiment with Misty Moonlight, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, trim down to 1/8" border around sentiment. Adhere with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
Embellish with Baker's Twine bow and Matte Decorative Dots.
