Easy as 1-2-3 Box

 Greetings!

Today's project is a cute little box to store your cards.  The one featured here is made to hold 4 x 4 cards (featured in the previous blog post dated 2/9/26).  The worksheet below (in the Here's How It's Made section) shows how to calculate for any size box you wish to create and has the link so you can download your own blank copy.

The Modern Oval Punch is used for the label and a portion of one of the stamps from the Prayers & Promises stamp set for the message.  This box and an assortment of cards makes a fantastic gift!

Beverly's Tip of the Day

The box featured today uses the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Papers (DSP) for both the top and bottom of the box.  This box works equally well with cardstock for the bottom piece for a bit more sturdiness, or both top and bottom if you want a solid color.

The box top can be a different height than the bottom if you wish; simply subtract a small amount from the calculations.  The difference will be where you score, so make sure to adjust that accordingly.

You can die cut a shape out of the top of the box, and insert a window sheet into the opening so the contents can be seen when the box is closed, or you can make the entire lid out of a window sheet, and have it be the smaller size so it tucks inside the bottom.

Here's How It's Made:

Here's the worksheet used for making this box.  Blank Box Calc. Worksheet

This box is 4-1/4 square with 3/4" High sides on both the top and bottom, so here's my sheet showing the calculations to come to the size the paper needs to be cut at to get the correct box size:

NOTE: 1/16 is one line less than what your top measurement is: in this example, 5-11/16 is one line shorter than 5-3/4.

Choose your prints for the top and bottom of your box.

The top is cut at 5-3/4 x 5-3/4, scored 3/4" from edge on all four sides.
On all four sides, using scissors, cut score line from edge to intersection of score lines, to create tabs.  On tab side, cut a very small angle to score line (this gives the tab room to easily tuck under).

The bottom is cut 5-11/16 x 5-11/16, then scored at 3/4" from edge on all four sides.
On all four sides, using scissors, cut score line from edge to intersection of score lines, to create tabs.  On tab side, cut a very small angle to score line (this gives the tab room to easily tuck under).

Fold DSP at all score lines and burnish with bone folder to create nice crisp edges, then lay flat again.

Apply adhesive on tab edge on all four tabs of both bottom and top box pieces.

Fold tabs in at score line and adhere to inside of lid to create box top and bottom.

Bottom should easily slide inside top.

For top feature, ink just the words "for you" from the "I'm here for you" stamp with Gorgeous Grape, stamp onto Basic White cardstock.

Punch oval from DSP, adhere to box top, adhere message in center of oval.

Tie Baker's Twine into bow, adhere at upper left corner of message piece, embellish with Brushed Brass Butterflies.
