Nested Double Opening Fun Fold Birthday Card

Greetings! 

Today's card features messages from Notes & Totes and Delightful Wishes stamp sets surrounded by prints and cut outs from the Hobby Haven Designer Series Papers (DSP).  The Hobby Haven DSP prints cover a variety of interests making it very easy to customize the images for the person you are sending the card to. Even more versatility is added with the cut-out images that are also part of this DSP pack.  

Techniques include a fun fold which consists of the top layer on the card front flap, a smaller card opening underneath, and all mounted on the inside of the card for a fun something extra.  Heat embossing is used to give the message the perfect coordinating copper color.

This fun fold was CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from Jacque Williams.  I made modifications to the sizes of the layers for my card.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

Never feel you are cheating when you get an idea from someone else, and copy it for your card.  All ideas come from somewhere, and a great way to get inspiration is from others.

Finding styles and techniques that speak to you are what gets those creative juices flowing and is a great jump off point when you're not sure what you want to do.  And just I have done with this card, take the idea and make the modifications that make it your own, whatever they may be.  Add layers, take away layers, change the sizes or orientations, and of course, choose your colors, papers and messages that fit for what you need.

Gather Your Supplies:

• Notes & Totes stamp set
• Delightful Wishes stamp set
• Basic White cardstock 
• card base 4-1/4 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 5-1/2    
• inside card 3-1/4 x 9 scored & folded at 4-1/2
• front panel 3-3/4 x 2-1/2
• Early Espresso cardstock
• 3-7/8 x 2-5/8 front panel mat layer
• 3-1/2 x 1 for sentiment
• Hobby Haven Designer Series Paper (DSP)
• 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 diagonal watercolor wash
• 4-3/8 x 3-1/8 easy chairs & plants 
• 4-1/8 x 2-7/8 white grid on petal pink
• stack of books, individual book, coffee cup, cupcake cut outs
• Lost Lagoon Classic Stampin' Pad
• VersaMark Ink Pad
• Copper Embossing Powder
• Mini Stampin' Dimensionals
• Dear Dots
• Paper Trimmer
• Heat Tool
• Embossing Additions Tool Kit

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere watercolor wash print to inside of folded card base.

Adhere grid print on front flap of folded card base.

Adhere chair/plant print to front of folded inside card, then adhere to watercolor wash layer, centering.

Adhere Basic White panel to Early Espresso mat layer, position and adhere cut outs onto lower portion of panel, adhere to front flap, making sure to only apply adhesive to upper part of panel.

Ink "relax & enjoy" with VersaMark, sprinkle copper embossing powder onto message, shake off excess, hold cardstock corner with tweezers, heat set with heat tool to melt powder.  Adhere message over upper portion of front panel with mini stampin' dimensionals on edges.  

Embellish with Petal Pink Dear Dots.

For inside, ink "wishing" with Lost Lagoon, stamp at an angle in upper part of card, with remaining birthday part of message below, also stamped with Lost Lagoon.

Adhere cupcake below message.
