Greetings!
One of my favorite flowers have always been the big California poppies. Part of the attraction is the color - that bright red-orange that simply asks you to take time to appreciate their vibrant beauty. I have some in my garden and they make me smile every time I look at them. Today's card pays homage to the poppy.
I was so excited when I saw a poppy stamp and a poppy die in the Thoughtful Wishes bundle. When deciding my card for today, I knew I wanted to use the poppy die, but how was the big question. I remembered one of the samples in the annual catalog had the poppy cut out of the coordinating Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (DSP). I found a print that worked great for my idea, and am so happy with how it all came together. The new Basic Beige color gives a wonderful neutral background for the bright oranges and reds paired with it.
The Ombre' effect of using a DSP print for the die cut poppies gives each one a unique look and made it very easy to choose the colors; Calypso Coral for the card base, Poppy Parade for the mat and Petal Pink for the sentiment label. The center panel is scored and folded at the top, so it's the part of the card that opens up for you to include a heartfelt message.

Here's How It's Made:
Die cut three poppies from DSP, two one direction, then die cut one from flip side of DSP print, so it will face the other direction, and two leaves.
Ink large leafy stamp with Basic Beige, stamp onto Basic Beige cardstock. Adhere to Poppy Parade cardstock, with folded edge at top of 4-1/4 edge
Adhere poppies and leaves to stamped Basic Beige card front as shown:
With Calypso Coral panel in landscape orientation, adhere completed piece, centering.
Wrap Flirty Flamingo Baker's Twine around front Basic Beige cardstock flap, tie bow at right edge. Ink sentiment with Poppy Parade, stamp onto Petal Pink cardstock, die cut with Perennial Postage label. Adhere to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals, over Baker's Twine.
Embellish with Matte Decorative Dots.
