Greetings!
The Hearts & Hugs bundle is filled with adorable critter images hugging or holding their arms out for hugs. They are so stinkin' cute! With dies to cut out the critters as well as grasses, flowers, hearts and more, it allows for many creative options. The sentiments are all about sending hugs and are just too cute when paired with these adorable critters.
I knew I wanted to make a card featuring the little critter (is it a guinea pig, hamster, chipmunk??) amidst the grasses and when I was looking for a fitting background color, I realized a couple of the prints from the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Papers (DSP) work well. The artwork is similar in style to the dies in the Hearts & Hugs bundle, so I played with it a bit, and here's how it all came together:
Those little outstretched arms are perfect to hold a banner, and by cutting the sentiment into each word separately, it fits just right. See how beautifully the little grasses dies and flowers blend in with the grassy meadow in the print. It seems like they were made to go together!
Having adorable little critters to adorn your cards may not be what you typically would do, but they sure are fun to work with. I know that anyone who's feeling a bit down will love to see the smiling face and heartfelt sentiment, and how can they not feel a little better whenever they look at it?

Here's How It's Made:
Ink critter stamp with Pecan Pie, stamp onto Crumb Cake cardstock, die cut. Color in feet and hands with Pecan Pie Marker, nose and inside of ears with Bubble Bath Marker. Ink sentiment with Pecan Pie, stamp onto Petal Pink cardstock. Using Paper Snips, cut out each word, trim close to words on top and bottom.
Run a thin bead of Multipurpose Liquid glue curving down between critter's outstretched hands. Place White Baker's Twine on bead of glue. Adhere individual words in sentiment onto Baker's Twine to form banner.
Die cut flower stems and grass from Granny Apple Green cardstock, then cut another one of the grass portion only. Trim off any excess on stems to match height of grass. Die cut 3 flowers in both sizes from Peach Pie cardstock. Glue flowers onto stem tops.
Cut DSP panel down by cutting off bottom 2" of scene, and 1/2" from each side. Position assembled flowers near bottom left corner, critter slightly up at right side of flowers, with die cut grass at critter's feet.
Adhere finished panel to Pretty Peacock cardstock panel, then adhere to Balmy Blue folded card front.
Embellish with Peach Pie Shimmer Gems in the center of each flower.
