Friends Are Like Seashells Torn Window on By the Bay Scattered Shells

Greetings!

I recently was introduced to a technique I had not tried before, called the torn window.  It's very easy to do and I love how it looks, so I had to share it with you! 😄

The most challenging part was figuring out which stamp set and paper to use for it.  I was really happy to see that the By the Bay Designer Series Papers (DSP) coordinate beautifully with the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set and from there it was pretty easy to put this all together.

Isn't it a fun technique?!  The paper provides such a lovely variety of shells, and the stamp set has shells of the same shapes and details to make this a wonderful pairing.  When choosing a print to use, the flip side of the paper will show, so choose one that will work well with just a little bit of the flip side showing.  A couple of the shells are fussy cut out of the leftover paper pieces, and the rest are stamped and die cut using the Seaside Seashells dies.  Adding a few Basic Pearls and some Gray Granite baker's twine helps give it a nice beachy feel.

Here's How It's Made:
Adhere Petal Pink cardstock panel to Gray Granite folded card front.

Carefully tear DSP print approximately 1" in from top and bottom of long edge until you have an opening about 3" long.  Trim off torn piece, leaving about 1" to roll back.  Insert skewer, chop stick or thin pencil and gently roll towards untorn part of DSP.  Note:  The back side of this print has gold foil stripes randomly running through it.  If you don't want the gold to show on your roll, make sure to stop or go past the strip so it will be hidden.  Secure rolled edge to print with mini glue dots or Tear & Tape adhesive.  Adhere onto Petal Pink cardstock panel, centering.

Ink star fish stamp with Crumb Cake, stamp onto Crumb Cake cardstock, die cut.  Ink small scalloped shell with Crumb Cake, stamp onto Shimmery White cardstock, die cut.  Ink larger scalloped shell with Petal Pink, stamp off once, stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock, die cut.  Fussy cut large Mint Macaron Scalloped shell, tiny Mint Macaron Conch shell, and a large Gray Granite Conch shell out of the DSP print.

Adhere shells along bottom torn edge, leaving space for sentiment to fit in opening, using Stampin' Dimensionals on a couple to create more depth.  Thread Gray Granite Baker's Twine through hole in rolled paper, pull enough twine through to tie a knot and let loose ends hang.

Ink "Friends are..." with Gray Granite and stamp on to Petal Pink cardstock in opening above shells.
