Simply Succulents Design a Daydream Thank You Card

 Greetings!

Today was one of those days when I needed a bit of outside influence to help get my creative juices flowing and design a card.  My first reach is always the catalog, as there are so many fabulous designs, color combos, interesting product combinations or just plain simple cards to inspire me.  As I flipped through the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog today there were so many choices, but when I got to page 33, I saw a sample in soft colors using the Simply Succulents stamp set and decided that was my inspiration.

The Simply Succulents stamp set has great images, beautiful messages and the Potted Succulents dies that coordinate with it make it so easy to cut out and layer images.  I loved how the sample on pp 33 took the large succulent bouquet and fussy cut part of it away, leaving the three center plants.  The subtle touch of having a layer of vellum behind it over the paper was another feature I decided to adopt on my card.

I chose the Design a Daydream HOST Designer Series Papers for the layers behind the vellum as they were the perfect colors.  I decided to give my plants a bit more color than just the outline so I used a blender pen and added a very light touch of color.  The 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds match perfectly with the various colored stripes so I added a nice variety of them for some sparkle.

Here's How It's Made:
Adhere striped DSP panel to folded Mint Macaron card base front.  Adhere Blushing Bride DSP panel to card front, centering on stripe.
Ink "thanks" with Versamark, then Daffodil Delight and stamp near lower left corner of Vellum.  Sprinkle "thanks" with Clear Embossing Powder, shake off excess, and heat set with Heat Tool.
Heat embossing creates such a WOW to your card.  It turns a stamped image into a raised glossy design, and looks like magic as you watch it transform when the heat is applied to the powder.  Make sure and add the Heat Tool and the Basic Assortment of Stampin' Emboss Powders along with the Versamark™ Ink pad to your cart today.  These Embossing Powders will last you for months and months, if not years, depending on how often you use them.  A little goes a long way!
Adhere to Blushing Bride panel by applying adhesive in center area only so it will be covered by the die cut succulents.
Ink large succulent bouquet stamp with Mint Macaron, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, die cut, then fussy cut everything above and below so you are left with the three center plants.  Ink single small succulent with Blushing Bride, stamp off once, then stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Die cut.  Using a blender pen, dab tip onto edge of ink pad to grab a little ink.
Blender Pens come in a three pack with tips on both ends of each pen.  They grab whatever color you dip them in, giving you limitless options for color.  They can be used with ink pads, ink refill drops, Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Pastels and more.  They also work by simply using them clear on your stamped outline image and it will blend the edges to soften.  To clean them, just rub the tip on paper until it runs clear and you are ready for the next use.
Test on grid paper to see how dark it is, and when it's light enough, softly color around edges of succulent petals to add just a little color.

Die cut Soft Succulent cardstock with small hanging plant die.  Adhere to back of bottom edge of large succulent flower, then adhere cluster to Vellum cardstock panel.  Adhere Blushing Bride die cut with Stampin' Dimensional.
Embellish with 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds.
Here's what the inside looks like:

The Potted Succulents dies have beautiful label dies included, so I stamped the message onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock, then die cut it with die as shown above.  Ink small succulent stamp with Blushing Bride, stamp off once, stamp onto Basic White, die cut and fill in softly with blender pen.  Adhere to top right corner of die cut.

This is the fun of creating your own cards!  You can jazz up the inside with die cuts and fun labels too instead of simply stamping the message onto the card base cardstock.  It takes so little time and adds such a personalized touch.
