I am in love with the patterns introduced this year for the color collection Designer Series Papers! They are a wonderful combination of florals, dots, feathery stripes and plaids that are the right size to compliment just about anything.
For today's card I knew I wanted to use one of the plaid colors, and the only assortment I have is the 2022-2024 In Color assortment, so that was the starting point. After flipping through the annual catalog for some inspiration I decided on a banner style to be the base for my image. I very loosely based this card layout on the sample on pp 162 featuring the Cottage Flowers bundle.
I pulled the Happiness Abounds bundle and the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Papers, as they have gorgeous flowers in a multitude of colors, and they are sized to cut out with the Blossoming Happiness dies, so BIG bonus! I decided on the Night of Navy roses paired with Tahitian Tide for the background and am so happy with how it turned out!
Aren't those flowers gorgeous! How great that all you have to do is die cut them out, add a bit of adhesive and put them on your card. The lovely background die cut on the banner tag is part of this die set and provides a wonderful texture. I chose the "birthday wishes" from the Garden Birdhouses stamp set is the perfect fit for the little banner and the sentiment is just what was needed for the inside message (you'll see it further down this post). To give a clean finish to the top of the banners I adhered a tiny strip of the feathery stripe pattern from the In Color DSP assortment. Perfect!
