It is so fun to pair unexpected items together and love the result.
I have had the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder since its debut in Spring 2021 and have never made a card with it until now. I was admiring the Pearlescent Specialty Paper and trying to decide what to use it with when I realized it would be perfect for the Seashells! It has such a gorgeous shimmer to it, and it shows off all the detail of the embossing folder beautifully.
What's better with sparkle and shimmer than more glimmer and sparkle! I have discovered the Gilded Leafing isn't that intimidating to work with after all. Applying thin lines of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the cardstock, allowing it to dry as it stays tacky, then pinching small amounts of Gilded Leafing and dabbing and rubbing it onto the dried glue is an easy way to get fun results without a big mess.
Part of the reason I hadn't used this embossing folder yet was that I couldn't find a nice label that seemed to fit with the seashells. I've seen a few cards using the Layering Diorama dies for a fun curvy label and gave it a try. I love it! It fits so well with the overall look. Positioning it to leave room for a little shell to be stamped next to the sentiment gives it just the right touch, and looping some Gold Simply Elegant Trim under it continues the flow of the design. Adding a few adhesive backed Pearls are a nice compliment for this design filled with seashells and seaweed.

- card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2 OR 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
- Pearlescent Specialty Paper
- 5-1/4 x 4 panel
- Petal Pink cardstock
- 3-1/4 x 2-1/4

Here's How It's Made:
Insert Pearlescent Paper into Seashells 3D Embossing folder, emboss. Apply thin lines or dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to any areas you would like to embellish with Gilded Leafing. Set aside to allow glue to dry. (I recommend 15 - 30 minutes depending on thickness of glue)
Ink "Friends are like seashells..." with Gray Granite and stamp onto Petal Pink cardstock. Position 2nd from smallest Layering Diorama die around sentiment, leaving space near bottom right for seashell stamp. Die cut. Ink small shell stamp with Saraha Sand and stamp near lower right edge of die cut. Apply two strips of Stampin' Seal adhesive to back of label and create loops of Gold Simply Elegant Twine to show around edges.
Gilded Leafing is extremely light weight. Make sure there are no air currents such as fans or open windows when working with this, or it will be everywhere! Work with small amounts at a time, and close lid in between so leafing doesn't fly out or spill. I recommend placing the piece you are working with into a shallow tray to help contain the leafing that is rubbed off. This makes clean up much easier.
When glue is dried to tacky, carefully open Gilded Leafing, pinch out a small amount and gently press onto glued areas of embossed panel. Rub with fingers lightly to rub off excess until all areas are covered to your satisfaction.
Adhere completed label to front of card using Stampin' Dimensionals. Embellish with Pearl Basic Jewels.
Though the Gilded Leafing is very delicate, it provides a shimmery effect unlike any other. I encourage you to give it a try. It make take a time or two to get the type of result you are looking for but it is worth the effort!
