Summer Shadows Design a Daydream DSP Thank You Card

Greetings!

Today I was reminded of what a great layout it is to simply choose a pattern from a pack of Designer Series Paper (DSP), cut a panel size of 4 x 5-1/4, cut it, and flip so both sides of the pattern are featured on the front of the card, then decorate it as you choose.  It's such a simple layout and works great every time!

For today's card I chose the Design a Daydream Host DSP* and the Summer Shadows dies for the beautiful two-step flowers and leaves.  The die cut flowers are awesome as are the leaves, and make a lovely focal point.  I kept the greeting very simple by stamping directly onto the DSP print.

The flower outlines are Blackberry Bliss, which I pulled from the outlines in the DSP print, and don't they look pretty against the Basic White.  I love how the leaves look too, again with Basic White and outlined in Pool Party.  I deviated slightly with the cut and flip of the DSP, as I wanted to add the Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon, but it got lost against the prints, so I snuck in a 1/2" strip of Basic White under it.  

Gather Your Supplies:

• Summer Shadows dies (coordinates with Shaded Summer stamp set)
• Shaded Summer stamp set (coordinates with Summer Shadows dies)
• Pool Party cardstock 
• card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2    OR    5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
• scrap for leaf die cut
• Design a Daydream HOST Designer Series Paper 
• 5-1/4 x 4 panel
• Blackberry Bliss cardstock
• scraps for flower die cuts
• Basic White cardstock
• 4 x 1/2 strip
• scraps for flower and leaf die cuts
• Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Pad
• Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon - 16"
• Adhesive Sheets

Here's How It's Made:

Cut DSP print at 2-1/4, so you have a 2-1/4 x 4 and a 3 x 4 piece.  Adhere larger piece at top of card front, and smaller piece flipped to other side and adhered at bottom.  Adhere 1/2 x 4 strip of Basic White cardstock on top of DSP where the two prints meet.  Wrap Pool Party Sheer Ribbon around card front and tie a bow, snip off excess.

Apply Adhesive Sheets* to one side of Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party cardstock pieces, then die cut detailed flower layers and detailed leaf.  Die cut the other flower and leaf layers from Basic White cardstock.  Adhere detailed pieces on top of Basic White pieces.  Position and adhere to card front as shown below, using Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere flowers.

Cut a 3/4 x 4 strip of the same print used on front and adhere near bottom of inside.  Die cut smallest solid flower and leaf cluster.  Cut a small circle of Basic White to go under holes in middle of flower.  Adhere flower and leaf on DSP strip.

*If you haven't tried the Adhesive Sheets yet, I strongly encourage it for detailed die cuts.  It can sometimes be a bit tricky to grab an edge and pull off the protective backing, but it's so worth it to have a die cut that solidly adheres to your card without the mess of sticky fingers and shiny glue spots  that can show when using liquid glue.  The Adhesive Sheets come in 12 x 6 sheets, and are scored every 2" on the 6" width, so it makes it easy to cut small pieces from the sheet and use only what is needed.  Love them!
