Eclectic Garden happy wishes

Greetings!

Do you find those sets in the catalog that you look at and ponder these questions; do I want this, should I get it, how much will I use it?  The Eclectic Garden stamp set was one of those for me and then good fortune stepped in and I earned it.  I love how the universe works.

Since it was gifted to me, I had to use it, and I'm very happy to say I really love this set!  It has a couple of wonderful messages in it, as well as line images created in such a way that the two brushstroke stamps can work as fill in a myriad of ways for the outline images.  Very cool!

I decided to use the adorable bird on the branch for my focal point and then wondered what to use for the background layer.  As this is the last day of the current annual catalog, I wanted to stay with items from the Jan-June 2022 mini catalog.  After looking at the stamps in this set, I realized the leafy part of the branch would work great as a background, so here's the card using those leaves as my background, and adding some splatters as well, even on the bird's tummy.

Isn't he cute!  Obviously the bird is open for interpretation as to what species it is, but the bright yellows really help him to stand out and emphasize the "bright wishes" in the message.  The leafy branch from the Bough Punch compliments beautifully with the branch the bird is sitting on and brings another layer of depth to the card.  This line art style is perfect for coloring in with the Stampin' Blends which come in combo packs of light and dark of each color.

What are the Stampin' Blends, you ask.  They are alcohol based markers, so they dry quickly, therefore substantially lowering the risk of your paper shredding or warping, and providing a more transparent color so details remain.  These allow much more versatility for shading than a standard watercolor marker, nor do the brushstroke beginnings and endings show the way they can with a standard marker.

Here's How It's Made:
Ink bird on branch stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp onto Basic White cardstock, making sure to leave enough room at the bottom to stamp the message below the bird.  Ink message with Tuxedo Black and stamp in lower right corner.

Color in image as follows: Color in bird with Light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend, then color over feather outlines, tail and parts of tummy and head with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend, coloring over again with Light where needed for further blending.  Color leaves in with Granny Apple Green Light and Dark, and color branch with Smoky Slate Light and Dark Stampin' Blends.  Ink speckle stamp with Smoky Slate, stamp onto bird tummy, and ink and stamp repeatedly under leafy area above message and along left edge and filling in upper and lower left corners.

Ink leafy parts only of branch with Granny Apple Green (This is easy to do as you can see where the stamp is touching the ink pad), rubbing off any ink that is on areas other than leaves, and stamp onto Smoky Slate cardstock panel.  Ink and stamp repeatedly to create background, turning stamp in different directions.  It is unnecessary to fill in the area that will be covered with the bird image.  Ink splatter stamp with Smoky Slate and stamp randomly between leaves.

Wrap Silver Simply Elegant Trim twice around stamped Smoky Slate layer, tie a knot.  Fold White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding in half, lay over knot, and tie Silver trim over seam binding to hold in place.  Adhere to Garden Green card base.

Adhere Basic White cardstock to Granny Apple Green layer, and adhere to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Punch the leafy sprig out of both a Garden Green and Granny Apple Green cardstock scrap.  Flip so they are facing opposite directions, layer, adhere together, attach a couple mini Stampin' Dimensionals to back, and slide stems under ribbon/trim knotted area, and press to adhere to card front.

Here's what the inside looks like:

Cut a 3-3/4 x 5 Basic White panel.  Ink leaves only with Granny Apple Green and stamp a couple times at opposite corners. Ink splatter stamp with Smoky Slate and stamp to fill.
