Artfully Layered Tropical Leaves Thank You

Greetings!

The Artfully Layered bundle which was introduced in the Jan-June 2022 mini catalog is a fabulous collection with a laid back island vibe.  Generously sized dies and stamps, simple messages in a carefree font style, and background textures give this it's name, which definitely inspires layering.  I opted not to get the beautiful paper pack that goes with this collection (I try not to buy everything!) 😄 so I find other papers to use.  The Abstract Beauty Designer Series Papers (DSP) have become a go to when I am looking for "artsy" inspiration and today's card features the beautiful navy/gold splattered print from this paper pack.

The gold splatters inspired my use of various shades of yellow as the complimentary color on this card.  I used a technique on the stamped leafy branch that I haven't used in a long time.  It's called the Rock-n-Roll technique which is achieved by inking the stamp with one color, then rolling the stamp on another color so just the edges are inked with the other color.  You always want to use the lighter color first.  This leaf is inked with Crushed Curry and then rolled in Mango Melody.  My Mango Melody ink pad was a bit dry so it doesn't look as dark, but I decided to leave it as is and put it on my card.  For the outline leaf die cut,  I also opted to leave the middles filled in on some of the leaves just for fun.

How cute are those little squares and half squares in the small So Saffron circle!  That is one of the two texture dies that are featured in this bundle.  I love when these little accents are included and again, perfect for bringing in more artistic inspiration.  The 2020-2022 In-Color Square Gems, which are retiring, were just the right size to add for a little pop.

May 3rd is the start of the new Annual Catalog, so make sure to check out the Last Chance list and take advantage of getting your favorites before they're gone...many items are discounted too!

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere gold/navy Abstract Beauty DSP  print to So Saffron card base.

Ink large leaf outline stamp with Misty Moonlight and stamp onto script vellum.  Set aside to allow ink to dry before die cutting (or use heat tool to dry ink).

Ink large leafy stamp with Crushed Curry, then roll edges of stamp in Mango Melody, then stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Die cut with coordinating die.

Die cut Night of Navy with 3" circle die.  Die cut So Saffron with 1-3/8" circle die, then place square texture die on circle and run through Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

Adhere Adhesive Sheet to So Saffron cardstock and die cut open-leaf piece.

Die cut Misty Moonlight with single leaf outline die that coordinates with stamp used on Vellum.  Die cut stamped vellum leaf and adhere to Misty Moonlight leaf by running a bead of Multipurpose Liquid glue on the underside of the central line of the stamped vellum leaf.

Adhere Night of Navy circle to card base, then layer stamped and die cut pieces.

Ink "thank you" with Misty Moonlight and stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Fussy cut around greeting with Paper Snips.  Adhere to So Saffron circle, and adhere to lower right of card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here's what the inside looks like:

I chose to use a sentiment from the Garden Wishes stamp set as the font is similar and it said just the right thing to go with thank you.

Ink message with Misty Moonlight and stamp on inside of card.

Adhere the left-over 3/4 x 4 cardstock strip offset near the bottom.  Die cut the detailed leaf in Night of Navy and Vellum, then replace navy negative pieces with the script style vellum and adhere to left of DSP strip.
