New Horizons DSP Variegated Panel card

Greetings!

One of the most beautiful papers Stampin' Up! has ever offered is the New Horizons Designer Series Papers (DSP) that were introduced in the Jan-June 2022 mini catalog.  These papers feature watercolor scenes that look like various landscapes with most featuring colors that suggest beautiful skies, a water element and hills or mountains.  One of the new layouts that is a great way to feature these papers is called the Variegated Panel card and I had to give it a try.

It reminds me of artwork comprised of multiple panels for a large wall space.  Many of the cards I've see have a sailboat in the water, however, I don't have any of the stamp sets featuring boats, so I had to come up with something different.  After browsing my stamp collection, I decided the message in the Nature's Harvest bundle was perfect, as is the flower, with the added bonus of a die to cut it out.  After trying a few different colors for the flower, I landed with stamping the outline in black and coloring it in with blender pens by dabbing the ink onto the stems and flowers.  This gives it a bit more of a watercolor feel and I didn't have to try so hard to stay within the lines - hehe.

Here's How It's Made:
Cut New Horizons Designer Series Papers to the dimensions listed on the diagram below.

Cut Evening Evergreen cardstock 1/8" larger in both directions for matting each strip. I recommend using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the DSP strips to the cardstock, as you have a little time for minor adjustments to get the pieces centered on the matting.  Adhere matted strips to card front, beginning with center piece and working your way out to each edge, keeping centered top to bottom.

Ink flower cluster stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp onto Basic White cardstock.  Squeeze closed Pale Papaya and Old Olive ink pads so a bit of the ink transfers from the pad onto the lid.  Dip the tip of the Blender Pen into the ink and dab Pale Papaya onto flowers and Old Olive onto stems and leaves.  Die cut with coordinating die.  Adhere near lower right edge.

To stamp the sentiment, place a piece of masking paper or clear tape over the top line, and ink stamp.  Remove masking and stamp "MAY NATURE'S BEAUTY..." onto Vellum cardstock.  Sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder, shake off excess, and heat set with Heat Tool.
Embossing text with Clear Embossing Powder on Vellum helps to set the ink so it doesn't smear, and gives it  a bolder look so it's easier to read.
Trim off excess so you end up with a strip approx 1/4" x 4-1/2.  Adhere to card with a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The resulting finished card is beautiful when using a scenery print with this technique.  It does take a bit of time to get all the pieces cut and matted, but it's worth it for the wow factor when finished!
