Greetings!I have discovered there are a lot of different ways to make a pinwheel card! In searching for my inspiration, I found quite a few that I wanted to do, until I started looking into the details and realized it was either a die we no longer carry or using a tool we no longer have...meaning it's no longer current to order through Stampin' Up! and I didn't want to make something that wasn't easily duplicatable.
I know the pinwheel tower cards are pretty popular right now and in looking up ideas, I ran across a 6-sided card, and thought, yep, that's the one! Thanks to Rick Adkins (link below) and his great instructions on his video, it was an easy choice for me to go with for my card.
The Abstract Beauty Designer Series Papers have a gorgeous variety of patterns in beautiful colors and splashes of gold so this seemed the perfect way to showcase a few of them. To continue carrying through the splashes of gold I pulled in the Expressions in Ink ephemera pack pieces, a panel of Gold Foil and embossed the message in gold. I love the way it all came together! This message from the Happy & Heartfelt stamp set completes it nicely and is so dang cute. This stamp set is filled with greetings and messages in this whimsical font.
For the gold elements from the ephemera pack to stand out against the gold foil background, I flipped them over to the white side.
Here's what it looks like from the top:
How cool is that! It still fits in a standard A4 envelope (5-3/4 x 4-3/8), so you don't have to look for a special envelope to mail it in and when folded flat it's less than 1/4" thick! The Abstract Beauty papers are fairly thin as are the ephemera pack pieces so they don't add much bulk.
This is what it looks like folded flat, with the envelope behind it. The camera angle makes it look a bit big for the envelope but I promise it fits.

Here's How It's Made:
Using the bone folder, fold each score line and burnish so you have a nice crisp fold. Here's what your cardstock piece should look like prior to folding at the score lines.
Apply Multipurpose liquid glue to the back of the outermost 1 x 4-1/4 section. Align the cut edge up with the 6" score line, so the glued area will adhere to the 4-1/4 x 2-1/4 section. Here's how it should look:
Next, apply liquid glue to the next 1" section, and adhere a Balmy Blue cardstock 2-1/4 x 4-1/4 panel. Repeat 4 more times, making sure you are always gluing the panels facing the same direction.
I recommend using the Multipurpose liquid glue for this project so you have a bit of time to make fine adjustments if needed. It also works the best for attaching the thin frames in the ephemera pack.
Adhere the Abstract Beauty 2 x 4 pieces to the Basic White panels. Adhere ephemera pack elements to the printed panels. To secure the little frame pieces, place a dot of glue where the two intersect, and adhere to print. Place leaf or branch piece so it overlaps frame. Notice that the gold/white stripe and the color-block panel don't have any added elements as they have gold in the prints.
Note: The Gold Foil panel is the size of the Basic White panels, so there is no layer behind it. Flip the gold ephemera pieces so the white side is showing, adhere to the gold panel, leaving space for the message.
Ink sentiment/message with Versamark, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, sprinkle with Gold Embossing Powder, heat set with Heat Tool. Adhere to Gold Foil panel.
If you've never tried a pinwheel tower card before, I encourage you to give it a try. They are quite easy to make and will definitely be a big wow for your recipient (or just to keep for yourself). The most challenging part was figuring out which prints to use.
