Favorite Tools Series - Part 1 - The Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips

 Greetings!

Welcome to part 1 of the series on my favorite tools.

Every one of my blog posts features a section on what tools I recommend for you to have a successful paper crafting experience.  This felt like the perfect time of year to elaborate on each of the tools listed in that section.

The Paper Trimmer is at the top of the list!

I truly can't imagine doing paper crafting without one.  The bed of the trimmer is 12-1/2" wide and 7-1/2" long with an extension arm that folds out to make it 17" long so you can easily place a full 12" x 12" sheet of paper without jamming the edges against the sides of the trimmer.  The plastic cutting track has a ruler along it, as well as the ruler and grid on the base so you are assured your paper or cardstock is always square on the trimmer before cutting.

The plastic track lifts easily for placement of your cardstock or paper, and locks into place when down to help hold item in place.  This track is thick enough to maintain its rigidity so your cutting and scoring lines are straight and smooth.  It includes both a cutting and a scoring blade to meet your needs.  Replacement scoring blades are sold separately (Item# 152391) in a pack of four.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, the ruler is along the cutting/scoring plastic track as well as on the bed of the item so you can easily see what measurement you are at in both directions.  Notice the grid runs all along the bed to help you maintain straight edges.

The other cutting tool I find indispensable are the Paper Snips Scissors.  These are priceless!

I keep them housed in the hard plastic sheath to protect the blades, especially the tips, and I store them in the plastic packet they come in.  This is a reminder to me to only use them for paper and cardstock, never anything else.  When I have to snip paper with any adhesive on it, I pull out my non Stampin' Up! scissors ๐Ÿ˜ŠThe same is true for cutting any ribbons, twines, etc.  Scissors are a tool where you should have a different one for the different materials you cut.

I tie a ribbon on the handle so if I am crafting with others I always know which pair is mine.

The blades on these Paper Snips are precision ground to cut all the way to the very tips, making them your dream scissors when fussy cutting - especially around small images.  They work extraordinarily well when wanting to make smooth curves to your cutting.

Essential Tools:

These are the tools I recommend  for a positive experience with all of your paper crafting projects.  Having the right tools makes every project go more smoothly from start to finish.
