Biggest Wish Happy Birthday on Dots & Spots

 Greetings!

One of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is the inspiration we receive from the home office weekly emails.  They always include a great project featuring a specific technique and instructions on how it was made.

Today's card was inspired by one of these email ideas.  The technique featured is using a Sponge Dauber to add color to a stamp to give it a two-tone look.  It's a very easy technique with beautiful results.

The large block words in the Biggest Wish stamp set are the perfect stamps to use for this technique.  I first stamped the entire "Birthday" with Wild Wheat, rubbed off the ink off the lower part of the stamp, then used a Sponge Dauber with Berry Burst ink and daubed the color onto the lower half of the stamp.  It's a very quick technique that produces beautiful results.  The addition of the word "happy" in yet another color adds even more color to this card, and the Dots & Spots die gives it a very celebratory feel to the background.

The card I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from the email also featured the Jute Twine unraveled along with other Baker's Twine.   I added Metallic ribbon to the ensemble as well.  These simple extra touches help to take your card from ordinary to extraordinary with a few simple additions.  The Fresh As a Daisy Designer Series Papers (DSP) continue the festive feel to this card by the subtle color variation in the dry brush prints.

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere Wild Wheat DSP panel to Basic White Thick folded card front.

Position Basic White cardstock panel on Dots & Spots die as shown to have solid line edges, die cut.  I cut this with the cardstock up to make sure it didn't shift when die cutting.

Adhere to card front, centering.  Adhere Moody Mauve DSP 1" from top of die cut panel, centering side to side.

Ink "Birthday" with Wild Wheat, rub off ink on bottom third of stamp with fingers or tissue.  Press  Sponge Dauber onto Berry Burst ink pad a few times to get it inked well, then daub onto lower half of "Birthday".  Stamp onto Basic White cardstock, centering.

Ink "happy" with Blackberry Bliss, stamp off *once, then stamp onto small Basic White cardstock piece.

*Stamping off is a technique in which you stamp onto grid paper once or twice before stamping onto cardstock.  This gives a softer color to your image.

Unravel Sweet Sorbet metallic ribbon pieces and Wild Wheat Jute. Apply adhesive to the back of both stamped pieces and position fibers to your liking.  Adhere "Birthday" and "happy" with Stampin' Dimensionals onto Moody Mauve DSP panel.  Tie White Baker's Twine into a bow, adhere using mini glue dot.

Embellish with Moody Mauve and Wild Wheat In Color Dots.

Here's what the inside looks like:

Ink birthday greeting with Wild Wheat, brush off "happy birthday", daub Berry Burst ink onto the "happy birthday" and stamp in upper area of inside.

To get this beautiful message that's on the inside of this card, order the new Notes of Nature stamp set, which will be available beginning January 2024!  Yep, you just got a sneak peak! 😉

If you want to add a little more flair, die cut a strip of the Dots & Spots to include below the message, and add a couple strips of the DSP near the bottom edge.
