Pick of the Patch Cutie Pie Pumpkins and Gourds

Greetings!

I love a great punch bundle and the Pick of the Patch is a definite winner in that department!  It is made up of so many adorable images to get you through the fall holiday season.  The gourds and pumpkins in this set are so cute and I love the little curly cues that accompany them.  It's great when a set has images that are simple along with a punch to put them together to build wonderful pieces.  I actually didn't even use the punch on this card - haha - but I wouldn't recommend getting this set without the punch.  I'll be playing with it some more and I'm quite sure my next card (or one real soon) is going to feature a design using the punch.

Today's card started with me seeing what I could pair with the houndstooth print from the Them Bones Designer Series Paper (DSP).  That particular print is so gorgeous and the color combo is striking!  I started playing around with different colors for the pumpkins and gourds as I knew I wanted to use the sentiment "you're the Pick of the Patch".  Here's how it all came together:

It was a cute card, then I added the little "Cutie Pie" tag on and it became a stinkin' adorable card!  Who knew gourds and pumpkins could be so lovely in grays paired with the gorgeous Orchid Oasis!  As happens so often, the colors in the DSP's really help with getting the creativity flowing.  Because these images are so simple it was easy to fussy cut the gourd with the stem and leaf, pop it up with Stampin' Dimensionals, add the tag and Baker's Twine and it really takes center stage.

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere diagonal striped DSP panel to Starry Sky cardstock panel, adhere to Orchid Oasis folded card front.  Adhere houndstooth print piece approximately 1/4" from left edge of diagonal stripe DSP, centering top and bottom.

Ink gourd stamp with Orchid Oasis, stamp off, then stamp in middle of Basic White cardstock about 1" up from bottom edge.  (Make sure cardstock is positioned 3"h x 2-3/4"w).  Ink tall skinny pumpkin with Smoky Slate, *stamp off, stamp to right of gourd.  Ink short round pumpkin with Smoky Slate, stamp off, stamp to left of gourd. Ink stem stamp with Basic Gray, stamp full stem onto top of tall skinny pumpkin and gourd.  Clean stamp.  Ink top two thirds of stem with Basic Gray, stamp onto short round pumpkin.  Ink curly cue stamps with Basic Gray, stamp one onto each pumpkin.  Ink two-petal leaf stamp with Smoky Slate, stamp onto tall skinny pumpkin, re-ink and stamp onto gourd.

*Stamping off is a technique in which you stamp onto grid paper once or twice before stamping onto cardstock.  This gives a softer color to your image.

On a separate Basic White cardstock scrap, stamp the gourd in the same colors and orientation for stem and leaf as you just did on the Basic White piece with the pumpkins.  Fussy cut around the completed gourd.  Adhere to stamped gourd/pumpkin grouping directly on top of gourd, with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Ink "Cutie Pie" with Orchid Oasis, stamp onto a scrap of Basic White.  Cut cardstock down to a small tag, with a banner point on the left side.  Adhere with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Ink "you're the..." with Orchid Oasis, stamp under gourd/pumpkin grouping.

Adhere stamped Basic White panel to card front as shown.

Tie striped Orchid Oasis Baker's Twine into a bow, adhere to gourd with mini glue dot.

Embellish with large and small blue Ombre Matte Decorative Dots.
