Last Saturday was World Card Making Day and Stampin' Up had a wonderful online presentation featuring various projects demonstrated by a variety of demonstrators and staff members. The presentations were wonderful and I came away very inspired!
One of the projects featured what I call a three-section card. It is a basic card base, with a couple of cuts in it to give it three sections, and also layered in such a way to have three layers. Sara Douglass's (Stampin' Up! CEO) daughter Sydney demonstrated this technique. Though it may sound complicated, it's actually a pretty simple card, so I had to make one (or two 😉) to share with you.
It's a wonderful way to feature a beautiful print from the All About Autumn Designer Series Paper (DSP). Look closely and you'll see the Window Sheet behind the label on the front, which is a really great way to add another layer to a card. The Window Sheet is only attached on the two side pieces, under the Cajun Craze cardstock strips, so the center piece swings free. How cool is that!
It makes for a fun surprise when the recipient opens up the card.
Gather Your Supplies:
- Hope You Know stamp set
- Very Vanilla cardstock
- 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
- 2-5/8 x 1/2
- Cajun Craze cardstock
- Window Sheet
- All About Autumn Designer Series Paper
- 4 x 2-3/4 fall leaf branch on blurred background print
- 3 x 1 fall leaf branch on blurred background print (for inside)
- Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad
- Neutrals adhesive-backed Sequins

Here's How It's Made:
With scored card base folded open, make a cut from bottom front up to score line 1-1/4" in from either side.
Adhere Window Sheet strip at bottom edge of card front, applying adhesive only on the two side pieces to attach.
Adhere Cajun Craze cardstock strips to each Very Vanilla side strip, over Window Sheet edges, centering.
Adhere DSP print to Very Vanilla center piece, making sure it is under the Window Sheet.
Ink "TRULY.DEEPLY.GRATEFUL" with Cajun Craze, stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Adhere to Window Sheet, centering.
Embellish front print with small and large Neutrals adhesive-backed Sequins.
Here's how the card layers should open:
On inside of card, adhere remaining two
Cajun Craze cardstock strips at sides, 1/8" in from side edges and top and bottom. Ink "Just saying Thank You..." and stamp in upper middle.
Adhere small DSP print piece along bottom, centering.
Alternate:
I also made the same card style, but with the side pieces only 1" wide, so the center was 3-1/2" wide. Here's what it looks like:
Both sizes work great, and I got both cards out of the same 6 x 6 piece of DSP!
