Circle Sayings Bright & Beautiful Birthday Cupcake Card

Greetings!

Today's post is all about making a card that's quick, simple and cute!  I was reintroduced this past week to a layout that's a great way to show off a couple DSP prints as the backdrop for a simple shape and sentiment or image.  My first step was to pick out which prints to use and the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Papers (DSP) are so festive!

The Circle Sayings bundle is a wonderful combination of images and sentiments for all occasions bundled with a 2-3/8 circle punch.  Punches are such a great tool for creating beautiful cards in a snap.

It's so easy to start a card with a couple pieces of coordinating DSP prints and I chose the cardstock and ink colors from those prints.  The cupcake is actually stamped on another print from the Bright & Beautiful DSP prints and then I fussy cut it out.  That's the fun of playing and creating - you get to try things out and see what you like.  I completed my color palette by using three ink colors for the celebrate circle going around the cupcake.  Working with Photopolymer stamps makes it easy to do things like this because you can see exactly where you are inking and stamping.

If you haven't tried some of these techniques, this is a very affordable and fun way to try something new.  Grab a few ink colors, some coordinating papers, a punch and a Photopolymer stamp set such as this Circle Sayings punch bundle, and give yourself the freedom to see what you can create.

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere striped DSP print to Berry Burst card base, aligning with left edge, centered vertically.  Adhere confetti print DSP print to Fresh Freesia cardstock, then adhere to Berry Burst card front, aligning with right edge, centered vertically over striped DSP print.

Ink cupcake stamp with Berry Burst, stamp onto watercolor wash print, positioning stamp so cupcake holder is on one color and frosting is on another layer of color, as shown in picture:

Cut cupcake out with Paper Snips.

Ink one "CELEBRATE + dot" with Bubble Bath, one with Fresh Freesia, one with Berry Burst, breathe on stamp to make sure ink is moist for all three colors, stamp onto Bubble Bath cardstock punched circle.  Here's how to line up your stamp for inking each word and dot:

Adhere cupcake to center of stamped circle punch, adhere to center of confetti print DSP with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here's what the inside looks like:

Adhere 1/2 x 3 diagonal striped DSP strips to top and bottom of Basic White cardstock panel.

Ink "Sending you smiles..." with Fresh Freesia, stamp in upper half of panel.

To help with position of stamping when working with rubber stamps, here's what I do.  Place the clear block on grid paper, making sure the top edge of the block is aligned along a grid line.  Position rubber stamp onto clear block (rubber side up), lining up a line of text with a grid line.  Next, ink the stamp, line up the top edge of the block along a grid line and stamp.  If the stamp is straight on the grid lines, then re-ink it and stamp onto your project.  If it's a little wonky, lift and reposition until it's straight.  Taking this extra time ensures you don't ruin a piece of paper or cardstock by stamping a crooked message.

Ink "Happy Birthday" with Berry Burst, ink in lower half of panel.  Ink "burst" stamp with Bubble Bath, stamp above "Happy Birthday".
