Nested Essentials Dies Wonderful Husband Card

Greetings!

One of the very first things my eyeballs zoomed in on when I flipped through the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog were the die shapes showing elongated hexagons and rounded corner rectangles.  I HAD to find out what die set they were part of!  The fantastic news is they are both in the same set of dies, in multiple sizes, along with banners.  The edges have great features such as double rows of "stitching" on the banners, angled "stitching" on the elongated hexagons, and pierced edges on the rounded corner rectangles.  I love those added touches that are unique to each shape!

I decided these shapes would be fun to play with for a masculine card.  I chose the blue plaid print from the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Best Family Ever stamp set, which is loaded with words to create your own customized message.  Here's what the finished card looks like:

With Father's Day quickly approaching, this will make the perfect card for me to give my husband on the day honoring what a great dad he is.  If you look closely, you'll see that I have the word "love" stamped in Night of Navy on the small rectangle in the lower right corner.  The Brushed Metallic Dots help draw attention to it, as well as being the perfect accent at the top of the two banner pieces.

When you scroll down through the directions, I hope the inside message makes you smile. This would also be a great anniversary card - or a card for any day to make him smile :).

The Nested Essentials Dies include a wonderful assortment of sizes to easily work with many of the stamp sets.  It's always nice to have some tried and true favorites to reach for again and again and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of these dies.

Here's How It's Made:
Adhere blue plaid DSP panel to Gray Granite folded card base.

Die cut shapes as follows:
  •     Night of Navy cardstock - smallest banner, smallest rectangle   smallest hexagon for inside
  •     Pebbled Path cardstock  - 2nd from largest banner
  •     Gray Granite cardstock - 2nd from largest hexagon   2nd from smallest rectangle for inside

Create message by placing all stamps on one Clear Block.  I used Block H.  Ink and stamp on grid paper first to make sure they are lined up straight.  When you have them lined up properly, ink message with Misty Moonlight and stamp onto Gray Granite elongated hexagon die cut piece.

Adhere die cuts as shown.  If you wish, stamp "love" in Night of Navy onto the Night of Navy rectangle before accessorizing with Bronze Metallic Dots.

Here's what the inside looks like:

Create your message by combining the stamps onto one Clear Block, ink with Misty Moonlight and stamp onto Gray Granite rectangle die cut.

Adhere die cut pieces and DSP strip as shown.

Wrap Linen Thread around Night of Navy Ribbon 4 times, and tie ends into a knot.  Adhere at bottom of rectangle die cut with mini glue dots.
