Happy Forest Friends Thinking of You

Greetings!

Today I finally made a card with the first suite of products I ordered from the 2022-23 Annual Catalog, which I ordered on May 3rd.  It's funny how sometimes something is in the "I gotta have it" category and then we take so long before we pull it out and use it.  Does that ever happen to you?

The Happy Forest Friends Suite caught my eye right away, mostly for the gorgeous papers that are part of this suite.  The whimsical creatures, the adorable mushrooms and the fun trees, and more that are part of the stamp set, as well as the additional items in the dies are so cute, and there's even an owl!  For the past few years I have had the pleasure of having Great Horned Owls on our property and last year watched two young ones grow up throughout the entire summer.  A spectacular treat for sure, so this suite has a special place in my heart.

As I mentioned, I love the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper (DSP) prints, some of which include beautiful landscape scenes ready to be embellished with die cuts, which is exactly what I did for this card.  I wanted to use a small portion of the print, so I made it a scant 3" wide, then filled in with a couple of the beautiful patterned prints that are part of this paper pack.

Isn't he the cutest little owl!  The little stump he sits on is one of the dies that is so awesome, as it features the detailed outline "bark" die and the solid stump die, so very easy to layer to get all the realistic detail.  I snuck in a little stamped mushroom to go along with the ones that are included in the print itself, and note the butterfly up amongst the trees.  The tag is also part of this die set, which is the perfect size to add your message onto.  This message comes from the Art Gallery stamp set and is just the right size to squeeze inside the stitched detail of the tag.

I always feel a bit challenged using sets that feature wildlife of any style and it took me a bit to get to the finished layout, however that's part of the fun of trying something outside our usual comfort zone, right?  There's always room to stretch our creative muscles.  I'd love to hear what challenges you face when trying to come up with your next card.  Make sure and leave a comment below and thank you!

Fill in eyes and beak with So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker.  Die cut all three stamped items, and die cut tag from Sahara Sand also.
Die cut stump from Soft Suede cardstock and stump detail from Early Espresso cardstock. Adhere Early Espresso layer on top of Soft Suede layer.  NOTE: The detailed layer does not line up exactly with the full stump layer.

Adhere So Saffron print 1/8" from left edge, and Calypso Coral print 1/8" from right edge.  Center tree print between these two.

Position tree stump near bottom, adhere.  Adhere owl onto stump with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Adhere butterfly up in the space between tree trunks, and adhere mushroom in amongst the leaves.  Adhere tag near top as shown in picture at top.

Here's what the inside looks like:

Cut a 4-3/4 x 3-1/4 panel from Basic White cardstock.  Ink mushroom with Calypso Coral and stamp in lower right corner.  Ink butterfly with So Saffron and stamp above mushroom.  Cut remaining Calypso Coral 1/2" strip to 3-1/4 long and adhere near left edge.

Now your card is ready for your handwritten note to make someone's day a little brighter.
