A Jar Full of Ombre' Flowers

 Hello, hello!

Today I challenged myself to use the Corner Bouquet stamp set and see what I could create.  I looked at the size of the largest bouquet and thought, hmmm, I wonder how this will look with the little jar punch.

Ta dah!  Isn't it just the perfect explosion of flowers to burst out of the jar!

                                    A Beautiful Ombre' Bouquet!

I played around with a few different ways of coloring it.  Since it's a solid stamp I tried it with a neutral color and then sponged color onto the flowers, and it was okay, but... I tried coloring in the flowers with three different marker colors and the leafy areas colored in green, and it was okay, but...

Then I thought, how about I try an Ombre' look. This color combo still nods to winter with the blues and purples, but gives us the hope of beautiful purple Crocuses and Hyacinths which tell us Spring has arrived. To create the Ombre' technique, I inked directly onto the stamp with the ink pads.  Seaside Spray at the bottom, Highland Heather for the middle, and the top with Gorgeous Grape.  Don't you just LOVE color transition!

If you're like me you have a hard time feeling a card is complete without a little bling! The Whale of a Time sequins add sparkle and sprinkle a little more color throughout the bouquet. I added Wink of Stella to some flowers for even more sparkle.  Neither the Jar of Flowers nor the Corner Bouquet stamp sets have any sentiments in them, so I selected the beautifully small scripted Thank You from the Very Versailles stamp set.  The Label Me Fancy Punch is a favorite as it has separate slot and hole punches to add to the tag.  This feature allows for ribbon to be thread through the tag.  Isn't Gorgeous Grape ribbon the perfect touch! To make the tag smaller, I simply reinserted it into the punch and shortened it to the desired length by punching again.  Adding a strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock near the bottom edge anchored this jar of flowers and added some needed color to the background.

It's SALE-a-bration through the end of February so you can still earn the Corner Bouquet set for FREE!   Stampin' Up! ® always gives us a lovely selection of stamp sets, beautiful papers and more during this special time.  Earning FREE product for every $50 or $100 purchased is such a fun reward  with exclusive items which are only available during this time!

Quick Tips:
  • The multi-purpose glue is a great adhesive for adhering small items.  I simply put tiny little drops of glue where I wanted to adhere the sequins and then placed the sequins. This glue stays tacky when dry so you want to keep your drops of glue very small.
  • To attach ribbon run a line of adhesive on the back side of the cardstock and then press the ribbon onto it.  I prefer to use an adhesive such as Stampin' Seal ® for this instead of a liquid glue.  Using a double sided adhesive makes repositioning easy when working with ribbon.
  • Stamp your image first, and then punch it out. When stamping the image onto your piece of cardstock, note the direction it needs to be inserted into the punch.  This saves you time from having to trim your cardstock to get the stamped image placed into the punch correctly.
