Whimsy & Wonder Holly Jolly Christmas

Greetings!

The Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Papers have an unexpected color palette.  They feature colors you wouldn't necessarily gravitate to when thinking Christmas but after seeing these papers it's easy to change your mind.  It's a lovely variety of pinks, blues and greens with gorgeous touches of silver throughout.

Our team Facebook Live event this past week had a Mystery Card Challenge On the Fly announced at the end.  It's a really simple layout that uses one or two layers of Designer Series Papers and here is my finished result.  These papers make it so fun and happy! The "holly jolly Christmas" greeting from the Christmas To Remember stamp set HAD to be the greeting on the card.

Isn't it festive!  It feels like a party with all those adorable ornaments scattered this way and that along with bows and leaves - oh my!

The Polished Pink color is a wonderful limited time addition (2021-2023 In Color) to the Stampin' Up! colors and has become a favorite.  It's so lovely!  I didn't want the background color for my greeting to be full strength Polished Pink nor did I want Basic White so I had to improvise.  Good thing we have the fabulous Blending Brushes to use!  I lightly brushed Polished Pink ink onto Basic White cardstock to give me the perfect soft pink for the greeting to be stamped onto.  There really is no end to the versatility of how we can use the tools to customize our creations.

Here's How It's Made:
Adhere Basic White cardstock panel to card base front, centering.  Adhere both Designer Series Paper pieces, placing at angles as pictured above.
Rub Blending Brush onto Polished Pink ink pad to grab color, softly brush onto Basic White scrap until you achieve the soft shade of pink desired.  Ink greeting stamp with Polished Pink, stamp.  Ink greeting stamp with VersaMark, stamp, sprinkle with Silver Emboss Powder, shake off excess, heat set with Heat Tool.  Fussy cut out words with Paper Snips.
Adhere greeting to card front - pop up "holly jolly" with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
Tie Misty Moonlight/Silver baker's twine into bow and adhere.  I placed the greeting next to an ornament so the bow looks like it's at the top of the ornament while also drawing attention to the greeting.
Add 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to ornaments and near greeting to add sparkle.
The Take Your Pick Tool makes attaching small pieces easy and precise.  Use the Putty Tip for easy grabbing and placement of small embellishments.
Here's what the inside looks like:

Cut 4 x 3 piece of zigzag print, adhere to inside of card.

Ink sentiment with Polished Pink, stamp onto a 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 piece of Basic White.  Adhere to print.  Cut out an ornament and adhere near lower right hand size of panels.

Nature's Harvest Ombre gift bag

 Greetings!

I'm one of those people who appreciate the package as much as the gift!  Are you like that?  I'm sure that's a big part of the reason I love paper crafting so much.  There's a lovely message in a beautiful handmade package that says "I took the time to make this special for you!"

With this week of Thanksgiving there will be many gatherings and a gift for the host/hostess is always appreciated.  A small token of appreciation that will fit in this adorable gift bag will melt their heart for sure!

Doesn't that flower look great!  Heat embossing is such a fun WOW!  There isn't a stamp for the flower so I had to figure out a way to get the details to show up.  The dies in this bundle are designed to emboss and cut at the same time so the details are built right in!  How cool is that!

These beautiful bags come in an assortment of the five 2021-2023 In Colors and are food safe as well.  Whether you have a gift card, note card or tasty treat inside, this bag works perfectly!

Dressing it up with beautiful elements from the Harvest Meadow suite collection simply gives you a reason to have fun making the packaging special.

Here's How It's Made:
Wrap Designer Series Paper strip around bag, fold and crease at sides.  Adhere at overlap in back (do not adhere to bag).  Position 1-1/4" up from bottom of bag.
Ink splatter stamp with VersaMark, stamp onto bag, ink and repeat 3-4 times randomly on front of bag.  Sprinkle stamped areas with Gold Emboss Powder, shake off excess, heat set with Heat Tool.
Die cut multi-floral image in Soft Succulent cardstock.  Die cut wheat sheath in Gold Brushed Metallics cardstock.
For maximum embossing detail add a piece of cardstock under cutting plate when die cutting large flower.  This provides a bit more pressure so raised embossing detail is more pronounced.
Lightly pat VersaMark pad onto embossed die cut so ink only touches raised areas.  Sprinkle with Gold Emboss Powder, shake off excess, heat set with Heat Tool.
Here's a close up:

Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere stems of die cuts together.  Adhere to left front side of bag with a generous amount of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Wrap Gold 3/8" Fine Art Ribbon around bag, tie first half of knot, insert Gingham Ribbon into center, hold and tie the second half of knot.

Ink message with VersaMark, stamp onto Basic White cardstock, heat emboss using Gold Emboss Powder.  Snip ends to points.  Adhere using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Painted Christmas Explosion Box with Shaker Lid

 Greetings!

Welcome to the Holiday Packaging Inspiration Hop!

I am very excited to share my Explosion Box with a Shaker Lid with you today!  I rarely make boxes, and I've never made an explosion box before though I always admire them!  The great news is it's not nearly as challenging as it looks!

Cute, right?

Here's what it looks like opened up!

The Painted Christmas Designer Series Papers provide the perfect papers to give this a very festive feel.  The color combination of Real Red and Flirty Flamingo was so fun to work with and the Sequins for Everything have a fantastic array of colors which fit right in with the many shades of reds, pinks and gold tones of the prints.

The box is 2-3/4" square, so a great size for a fun little treat or gift as well as providing a pocket for tucking in a personalized note.

The Paper Trimmer is definitely the star of the show for giving you precise cutting and scoring for this project.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Christmas to Remember Stamp Set
  • Real Red cardstock (scoring, cutting and assembly instructions are in video link below)
    • 8-1/4 x 8-1/4 - box
    • 5-13/16 x 5-13/16 - lid
  • Flirty Flamingo cardstock
    • (7) 2-1/2 x 2-1/2
    • (4) 2-1/2 x 1-1/4
    • (1) 2-5/8 x 2-5/8 (inner lid layer for shaker)
    • scrap for tag layer
  • Basic White cardstock
    • (2) 2-3/8 x 2-3/8
    • scrap for tag
  • Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper
    • (4) 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 - chevron print
    • (5) 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 - 3 baubles print, 2 chevron print
    • (4) 2-1/4 x 1 - baubles print
  • Window Sheet - 2-1/2 x 2-1/2
  • Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Real Red Stampin' Write Marker
  • Sequins for Everything - reds and golds
  • Baker's Twine Essentials Pack - White - 6"
  • Real Red 3/8" Sheer Ribbon (3) 4" pieces
  • Foam Adhesive Strips
  • Layering Circles dies

Here's How It's Made:
Here are a few additional instructions:
For tag on lid; Ink Merry with Flirty Flamingo, stamp onto Basic White scrap.  Ink Merry with Real Red Marker and stamp.  Center in smallest circle die and cut.  Select next size up die and cut Flirty Flamingo cardstock.  Adhere two circles together, and embellish with a few sequins.  Fold sheer red ribbon in half , tie baker's twine around ribbon and adhere to back of circle tag.  Adhere to top of box with Stampin' Dimensionals.
For note pieces I chose to cut the Basic White pieces 1/8 smaller than Flirty Flamingo. For dual colored message, ink stamp with Flirty Flamingo, then use Real Red marker to color in block letter words.  Fold ribbon in half and insert between cardstock pieces, press firmly to secure ribbon.  Adhere sequins randomly along top edge.
