Addressed To You Sparkly Birthday Wishes Card

Greetings! 

Today's card features the lovely Addressed To You stamp set, with images that work for so much more than just your envelopes.  There are multiple images for occasions throughout the year sized to fit perfectly in the opening of the oval or rectangle included in this set.  


Techniques include two-step stamping and heat embossing.   This card has lots of sparkle, from the silver foil sheet mat layer, the silver embossed stamped image and the rhinestones and faceted circles.  It's easy to add sparkle and shine to your card in a variety of ways.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

It's easy to add dimension and reflection to your images with the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter (designed to work with the Stampin' Blends Markers).  Whether it's to show a glimmer in an eye, or the shine on a balloon, a couple quick swipes or taps with the Color Lifter adds this feature for you.  


This Color Lifter also easily removes any little oops, where you've colored outside the line and want to clean up the edge.  It's magic!  Simply run the tip over the color you want removed and watch it disappear.  Note that it takes a minute for the ink to dry.

    • card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2    OR    5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored & folded at 4-1/4
  • Silver Foil Sheets 
    • 5-1/4 x 4 panel
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 4 x 2-3/4 for die cut 
  • Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • 5 x 3-3/4 pink dots on white print
  • VersaMark Pad

Here's How It's Made:

Adhere Silver Foil panel to folded card front, adhere pink dotted DSP layer to Silver Foil.




Note: When working with a larger, rather floppy stamp like the oval, lay oval with image side down onto grid paper, allow to relax, then place clear block onto stamp to have the oval maintain its proper shape. For this card, I placed the balloon stamp onto the same block with the oval and stamped the entire image at once. 

Ink oval and balloons with Versamark, stamp onto Basic White die cut piece.  Sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder, shake off excess, melt powder with Heat Tool to set.


Color the three balloons with Dk Pretty In Pink and Lt & Dk Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends.  Use color lifter to draw a slight curve near top of each balloon for reflection detail.


Ink Happy and Birthday with Flirty Flamingo, stamp inside oval.

Adhere die cut to card front, centering.



Embellish with small rhinestones and small and medium pearlized faceted circles, covering the circles around the balloons.

#DOswts451 - Blog Hop Simply Said Celebratory Card



Greetings! 

Here's today's sketch: 



And here's my card:



Techniques include heat embossing and making a tassel.  

Watching the Winter Olympics gave me the inspiration to turn this into a celebratory card to honor all the amazing athletes.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

To get a nice crisp edge on cards with an angled accent piece, I recommend a tent style card, meaning the fold is at the top.  Having the fold at the top makes it much easier to get a nice clean line on both sides when trimming off the excess of the angled piece.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • Simply Said stamp set
  • Crumb Cake cardstock 
    • card base 4-1/4 x 11 scored & folded at 5-1/2    
  • Secret Sea cardstock
    • 5-1/2 x 1
  • Basic White cardstock
    • 5-1/2 x 1/2
  • Gold Foil Sheet 
    • 5-1/2 x 1/4 
  • Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP)
    • 4 x 2-1/2 green smudges on white print
    • 4 x 3 red zigzag on white print
  • Versamark Pad
  • Gold Wow! Embossing Powder
  • Real Red & White Baker's Twine
  • Gold Flower Accent
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Heat Tool
  • Paper Trimmer

Here's How It's Made:

To cut angles on DSP prints, measure up 3/4" on right side of green/white print, trim from bottom left up to mark on right edge.  On red/white print, measure down 3/4" on left side, trim from top right down to mark on left side.


Ink "Yay!" with Versamark, stamp onto green/white DSP a few times at various angles, re-inking each time.  Sprinkle with gold embossing powder, shake off excess, melt with heat tool to set.


Ink "Let's Celebrate" with Versamark, stamp on Basic White cardstock, centering.  Sprinkle with gold embossing powder, shake off excess, melt with heat tool to set.  Adhere Basic White strip and gold foil strips to Secret Sea cardstock, with even borders at top, middle and bottom.

Adhere DSP panels to folded card front, with even borders at sides and top and bottom.  You will have about a 1/2" gap in the middle between the two pieces of DSP.  Adhere Secret Sea cardstock, angled, covering edges of DSP.  Trim off excess at sides.


To create tassel, wrap Baker's Twine loosely around fingers 4-5 times, pinch in center, carefully remove from hand.  Tie a separate piece of Baker's Twine around pinched area, knot, to secure.


Fold over at center (where knotted piece is), squeeze together at fold, wrap a length of twine around near fold, tie into knot.  Cut ends to create tassel.


Adhere tassel to Basic White strip, right of message, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.


Embellish tassel top with large gold flower accent.
