Pop-up Petals Front Flap Card

Greetings!

Today's card features the new online exclusive Pop-up Petals bundle and a print from the Hobby Haven Designer Series Papers (DSP).

Techniques include modified die cutting and coloring with Stampin' Blends.

This card was CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from a sample directly from Stampin' Up!  I thought it was so clever, so I had to make one to share with you!  I changed up the DSP print and colored the flowers in with different colors from the sample Stampin' Up! shared.

Beverly's Tip of the Day

To achieve a flap such as shown on this card, place piece with the top edge of the die off the edge of the bottom cutting plate and line up top cutting plate even with bottom cutting plate.

This die cutting technique also works when wanting to die cut a specific shape by folding the cardstock in half, placing die with one edge of die extending beyond folded edge.  After it is run through die cut machine, the folded edge wasn't cut, so you now have a mini card in a specific shape.

Experiment and practice.  We are only limited by our imagination, and this whole card making and paper crafting experience is a great way to try new things.  It's just a little paper and cardstock :).

Branching Out Elegant Pines Christmas Wishes

Greetings!

Today's card features the pine branch and adorable pine cones from the Branching Out dies, a print from the Elegant Pines Snowflakes Designer Series Papers (DSP) and message from the Pine Tree Trimmings stamp set.  They all come together beautifully to create this cozy, heartwarming card.

Techniques include die cutting, coloring with Stampin' Blends, and diagonal split panel background.

==============================================================================

Beverly's Tip of the Day

To get the branches on the die cut looking more natural, color them with a Stampin' Blend.  For this branch I chose Dark Pecan Pie.  Coloring over the Pretty Peacock cardstock gives it a very dark tone which coordinates perfectly with the Early Espresso pine cones.

In the past, I've often used a light color cardstock, or white, for a die cut such as this, and then colored it using blending brushes or sponge daubers.  Using a Stampin' Blend marker onto a dark color such as the branch on this card works equally well, and expands the ways to get multiple colors on one die cut.
