Greetings!
I'm a sucker for a great promotion where I can purchase items and qualify for free product, so Sale-a-bration is always a fun time for me. The fact that it's in January and February, a time of year that seems a little sleepy and quiet after the hubbub of the holidays, is another bonus. This year, there are a total of three Designer Series Paper choices, all of which are gorgeous!
Today's card features one of the prints from the Dandy Designs Designer Series Papers (DSP). This paper pack is huge and it's FREE with $100 purchase! It has a total of 48 12" x 12" sheets: 4 sheets each of 12 double-sided designs, giving you a total of 24 designs to play with! 😲 One of the great things about these designs is they are small so it's easy to use a small piece and see the entire pattern, or use a larger piece as a background that doesn't overwhelm the card. I chose this adorable polka-dotted print to pair with the flowers from the Painted Poppies stamp set, and using what I call a collar fold to give me a little white space for the sentiment.
I tried the leaves in a multitude of colors (mostly shades of green) and nothing looked right, so I thought, why not simply make them purple; Highland Heather outlines with Fresh Freesia fill, and that was the answer. I love how the colors in the papers inspire me to think outside the box and play with inspired new looks.
By simply cutting a diagonal along the top edge, filling it in with Basic White, and cutting a Fresh Freesia piece of the same size facing down from the cut line (resembling a shirt collar) provides a very simple way to take your card from meh to wow.

Here's How It's Made:
Measure down 1- 5/8" from top right corner of DSP panel, mark and cut diagonally up to left-hand corner. Adhere panel to Petal Pink card front. Ink message with Petal Pink and stamp near right edge of Basic White diagonal piece, then adhere to card front to fill in the cut out piece of DSP. Adhere Fresh Freesia cardstock long edge of piece along diagonal cut line with point facing down.
Ink solid fill stamp with Petal Pink, stamp off* once, then stamp onto Basic White cardstock. Repeat so you have two separate inked areas. Ink both full view and side view flowers with Mango Melody and stamp onto Petal Pink inked areas. Die cut both flowers.
*Stamping off is a technique in which you stamp onto grid paper once or twice before stamping onto cardstock. This gives a softer color to your image.
Ink large splatter stamp with Fresh Freesia and stamp onto Basic White cardstock. Repeat so you have two separate inked areas. Ink single leaf stamp with Highland Heather and stamp onto Fresh Freesia splatter, re-inking and re-stamping to have a total of 3 leaves. Die cut.
Position flowers and leaves along upper left card front as shown above, making sure to leave room for message.
Brush Wink of Stella onto center of flowers to give them a little shimmer.
